The Iraqi army continues to stumble and is making modest gains, but the Shia backed militias are kicking asz.   They told 60 minutes it would be embarrassing to have American troops shed blood in their country when it is their duty to regain the territory taken by ISIS.   The problem is only 15% of those fighters are aligned with the Iraq army, and the fear of Americans is that these Iranian influenced militas who with the Kurds are kicking asz are going to vie for power in Iraq once ISIS is defeated.   The Turks are bombing Kurds, yet the Turks and the Saudis have been accused at various times of supporting ISIS to take down Syria.  They showed an incredible weapon.   They take dump trucks and fill them with explosives and put armor on the front of the truck with a suicide driver.  They will often use five or six of these "frankentrucks" to take out and win a battle.   We have no business in the Middle East.  The Iraqis are right....it is embarrassing for Americans to die in their fight.

Those Shia are Iranian fighters. They are backed by American airpower.

ISIS still controls most of the navigable areas in Iraq

The Saudis would not be happy with an Iranian-aligned Shia regime in control in Iraq.

It will be interesting to see where this all goes. I hope we will stay out of it .... but I expect we won't.

There are folks in the Middle East who are putting boots on the ground and winning. The Saudis and Israelis are not happy, and the US is playing it safe as we slowly withdraw.......Iraq will never be one nation again.
