That Iraq fail dates from 2003.

“It’s harder to end a war than begin one. Indeed, everything that American troops have done in Iraq -–all the fighting and all the dying, the bleeding and the building, and the training and the partnering -– all of it has led to this moment of success. But we’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government that was elected by its people. We’re building a new partnership between our nations. This is an extraordinary achievement, nearly nine years in the making.” Obama

America can invest in military training, we can provide the best equipment, we can teach tactics and all the rest but what we cannot do is give a nation a backbone to protect itself. And the very notion that this is a reason that America should once again send our sons and daughters into harm's way because they do not have the courage to protect themselves . . . . sorry not buying it. Obama made an inaccurate assumption that they would grow a pair and stand and fight and for that he was clearly advised poorly, otherwise ask your selves just when do we disengage? Americans have no appetite for deeper involvement there and I would agree there have been huge consequences because of our withdrawal but the American blood and American treasure flow has come to a trickle compared to where we were.

That's where your POTUS pulled the plug knothead. The yanked the rug out from underneath the Iraqi military structure by not fully training up the SOF needed to fight the Islamists and then also pulled all intel support as well.

I get that Pace I really do but it had (or needed) to be done. We could have trained them up for two decades, spent trillions and the result would have been the same. America has come to terms with the futility of solving ancient hatreds within the tribal culture and Obama had the cajones to pull the plug to use your words . . . . . we agree on that. We disagree on whether it was a good call for America (not Iraq) or not . . . . . I am of the opinion that it was the right call as painful as it was.

Or we could have just left all alone and not invaded Iraq. Saddam was kept contained with sanctions and the no-fly zones. He was not a threat to U.S. interests. He was not powerful enough to project anything but words beyond his borders after his defeat in 1991.

It's the same deal with Iran today. You just have to see through the lies and rhetoric

Einstein.....it was doomed to fail because of the failures of the very constitution and nation building contrived in the Bush think tank.....where the man four years earlier did not know the difference between a kurd, shia or sunni. Bags of money and some Elmers glue held the thing together for awhile, but everybody knew it would fail and it did....just about everything that Bush did was a failure of unprecedented magnitude and I voted for him. No more subsidy to teat suckers and adios military aid in the middle east.....cut our military and the militarization of America.....stupid has come to an end....Thank you President Obama.

It worked out well enough when enough boots were put on the ground and with enough foot in ass called the SURGE which Obama voted against, but had to admit it worked. Obama was handed a stable Iraq and he screwed the pooch. It's on him, he owns it especially for the fact that he has 5k troops in country again.

Why can't we all just agree that the government in total is an inept. evil ,greedy POS that doesn't serve the people unless it buys them votes and power ? Why is one party better than the other? They both lead to an authoritarian police state.

The Dems won't agree because that is admittance that Obama has been a 6.5 year failure, even when he had both houses of Congress.

He strong armed it through the legislative process with no bipartisan participation. It was the "reconciliation" bill. Nobody read it and we are still finding out how screwed up it is as things unfold from year to year. There ought to be a law that Congress take a quiz on each piece of legislation they push forth to ensure they understand it. If they can't pass the quiz, they can't vote on it. That would surely keep things from being pushed through that Congressmen aren't even fully up to speed on. That's just a sign of how incompetent and untrustworthy this admin has been all along.

Well put Teo. If the federal govt hadn't ceded itself such enormous all encompassing powers... it wouldn't be so profitable to bribe. Really since woodrow wilson our govt and it's favors have been for sale... all that remains is the pretense of liberty.

Nice red herring when you can't back up your own side of the equation. He wasn't passing bills that cost America TRILLIONS in unfunded mandates like Obamacare has.

You partisan liar..... Bush passed Medicare Part D as an "unfunded mandate."

Republicans are famous for passing laws and not providing money for them.
