As Bernie said recently, Trump/GOP may have the money but we have the people. This is incredible. I can see Hillary in the rear view mirror.

Feel the Bern!

By Ed O'Keefe and John Wagner August 11
LOS ANGELES — The overflow crowds showing up to hear Bernie Sanders these days are a testament not only to his current popularity and the campaign’s social-media savvy but also to the promotional abilities of an alchemy of like-minded interests: progressive activists, labor unions and even Sarah Silverman.

The comedian took to Twitter to let her nearly 6.7 million followers know she would be at a rally for the Democratic presidential hopeful here Monday. That event drew an estimated 27,500 people — about five times as large as any crowd that has turned out for Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“Bernie always seems to be on the right side of history,” Silverman told the boisterous audience at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, noting that the 73-year-old was a civil rights activist in the 1960s, supported gay rights in the 1980s and strongly opposed the Iraq war before most other Americans.

[To his old socialist allies, Sanders has sold out]

All told, Sanders has attracted more than 100,000 people to his rallies in recent weeks, riding a wave of Facebook shares, retweets and old-fashioned word-of-mouth to become by far the biggest draw on the campaign trail.

I love Uncle Bernie, but he is getting older by the day and I am not sure he is right for President.  He speaks the truth.

He's only four years older than I am and lots of other baby boomers too. He looks to be in good health and has sense and as you say speaks the truth. He may be old but he is a breath of fresh air. We used to revere our elders. They have a perspective on life that only comes with age. It might end up being an asset. He is a force to be reckoned with. Look at all the people, voters!

I thought he looked old and confused when the black lives matter ladies took the mike and it almost looked like he needed assistance to do the stairs.  I have listened to him every Friday for about five years and his mind is sharp, but I had never seen him so frail looking as he did in Seattle.  I am 63 and just think that a President should be in their fifties or younger, but Bernie could be a great President, but a President at 82 is not appealing to me no matter who they are.

Now, he needs to translate the support he’s able to get in places like L.A., Portland, Seattle, and Madison into places that are actually on the early primary calendar.

He was and still is.

I'd vote for him again in a heartbeat, and he'd win in a landslide.

This is true. If the constitution allowed a third term I too think he would win in a landslide.

I saw an interesting use of editing recently on the Fox Financial Network. Lou Dobbs was showing clips of President Obama speaking to a group of leaders in Africa on his recent trip there.

The President was preaching to them about how they needed to follow their own constitutions and get rid of this idea they so often fall into of declaring themselves "President for Life"and not allowing elections after they were in office. He reflected that he'd been a pretty good president and that if he were to run again he felt he could be re-elected for a third term.

Dobbs did not give the background or context of the speech so it looked as if the president was talking to some group in this country. He, Dobbs, was mocking these ideas expressed by the president and repeating over and over his opinion (although stated as if it were a fact) that Obama was a very poor president.

I think it would be easy to start a rumor that Obama was (by executive order of course) allowing a person to run for a third term. Given the propensity of the fearful right wing masses I think they would start sending around their whacko emails urging their like minded relatives and friends to call their Congressmen and Senators, sign petitions on line etc. to stop his supposed action. I mean if so many of that group were/are so willing to believe that he wasn't born in this country I don't think it is a leap to see this as a possibility. LOL

Don't even suggest it. We have one of those posters on this forum who would likely believe it and run away with it. Shocked

You'd be one of the few. People have seen the destruction he has brought.

Semi-retired President Obama, even if it was constitutional, he would only be embarrassed by running a third time. It took a while for the Progressives to accept the facts, but eventually even they have come around. Except for a few here who wouldn't admit they were wrong if a video turned up of President Obama, naked in bed with three or four naked boys. Especially if Obama claimed he was having milk and cookies with them.

It seems that Americans can add "no more Obamas" to the oft-heard calls for no more Bushes or Clintons, despite the president's belief that he would be a shoo-in for a third term.

Rasmussen Reports on Friday released a poll showing that just one third of likely U.S voters would keep President Obama in office if he ran again. Even among Democrats, only 57 percent would vote for him a third time.

In his recent trip to Africa, Obama said, "I actually think I'm a pretty good president." Then he added, "I think if I ran I could win. But I can't. ... The law is the law, and no one person is above the law, not even the president."

According to Rasmussen 63 percent of all likely voters would reject a third term. That grows to a whopping 93 percent among Republicans and is still a solid 68 percent among independents.

Unemployment is down, we're not invading foreign countries with thousands of troops, torture of captives is greatly reduced, colleges are lowering tuition costs, congress is pondering student loan reductions of interest, the number of Americans without health insurance has dropped by 1/3 since Obamacare was initiated, the keystone pipeline isn't being built, and nearly all of America's youth think global warming is real.

Obama will go down as one of America's most successful presidents, by contrast to Dubya, who is already measured as one of its worst.

Lastly, for anyone like you who thinks Huckabee is a viable candidate, reality really isn't your cup of tea.
