Might be good for the 90,000 corporate employees, but this does not apply to the majority of McD employees of the franchises. 90 percent of all McDonald’s restaurants, will not see a raise from this announcement.

The more important benefit is that McD will pay for workers to obtain a high school diploma, provide tuition assistance for college courses and language training.

With Wal Mart making voluntary wage increases, there seems to be a recognition that the President's policies are good economic policies and good for the very businesses which are increasing wages. Demand drives our GDP, and stashing another 30 billion with the Wal Mart heirs does little for the economy, but 30 million Americans getting an additional few dollars an hour is huge in finally increasing the median income index......we are finally working on fixing stupid, but we must be careful of equally stupid huge increases in minimum wage....they accomplish little and will over time cause inflation....smart increases stretched out make real economic sense.

Great to see that you agree that there is no need, whatsoever, for government intervention. Businesses will pay what is necessary to fill the requirements of the job.

Wrong. When the Private sector does not pay living wages, the taxpayers pay the differences with direct subsidies to those industries. Like the estate tax elimination, the attacks against the minimum wage are the same evil who wants to get a tax break of three hundred billion over the next decade.

Enough. The failures of the trickle down and selfish stealing and subsidy to the rich must stop. We must stop war as a first alternative which supports MIC. Americans matter. Raise the minimum wage over the next 10 years until the index of real dollar value syncs again with the 1968 levels. Evil can be corrected. Do not mistake what appears to be voluntary......they are having their hands forced by aggressive state legislators who have had enough with Congress being owned by the 1%.

Not the job of the private sector to pay a "living wage", whatever that is....

It IS the job of the worker to educate themselves and/or acquire a skill which is of value to the employer.
