Iran could wind up running the entire me as a caliphate... but even if out it goes the other way it's a clusterfuck.

I hope we get the hell out of there... but obama has intervened for our "interests" repeatedly.

I agree with you in that our interests are better served by reducing our military presence in that volatile region.

My guess is he'll fold the best hand... again.

Iran is no military threat to the U.S.

Israel has nukes, remember? They can defend themselves. The true test is, can they show restraint like other nuclear-armed nations do?

The worst thing that ever happened was when Nixon told Israel it could have its nukes, just don't tell anyone about it. They should declare their arsenal and be ready to face any consequences for having it. That includes your non-nuclear neighbors wanting nukes too. That is why you engage your enemies diplomatically to reduce the threat. The U.S. and Soviet Union managed to do this successfully.

Iran is a threat to every military base we have in Mid east. If you don't like where we have bases, talk to your congressman and senators. Israel has never used a nuke, but countries like Iran have threatened to wipe them out. Iran WILL use a nuke on Israel and when it comes to that, Israel will be forced to respond.

You can tell how schizophrenic the obama foreign policy is by the syria policy. Who are we now supporting?

Iran does not have any known nukes yet. I don't care what PaceDog's security clearances allow him to see that we cannot see. Iran is officially a non-nuclear nation.

Israel wanted to join the "Big Boys" club by developing its own nukes. It did everything Iran is now only accused of doing IN SPADES. Theft of nuclear materials, espionage, even secret above ground nuclear tests (Vela Incident, October 22, 1979). Israel showed other nuclear-wannabes how they also could thumb their noses at the world without sanctions and join the club--now we have India, Pakistan, North Korea... Israel even helped South Africa develop a stash of A-bombs.

Now that Israel is in the Big Boys club, it needs to act like a Big Boy, or do what South Africa did (declare and disarm) and leave the club. The other Big Boy members don't threaten pre-emptive strikes on other nations, because they don't need to. That is the essence of 'nuclear deterrence.'

Israel lied when it claimed it would not 'be the first' to introduce nuclear weapons to the Middle East. It is their fault that Iran has even pondered acquiring them.

Bibi's blustering about Iran only proves that he hasn't matured enough as a leader to even be in control of nuclear weapons. Obama needs to ride him hard, which he is thankfully doing.

Can you think of one good reason to help iran own a nuclear weapon?

Lol... this shit is gonna get crazy when suicide bombers have nukes.

Is the U.S. "helping" Iran obtain a nuclear weapon? Oh, I get it.... Obama is just helping out his fellow Muslims.... Are you really just another PaceDog sock?

Well... that's extremely shallow. What do you think the results will be? Does it seem that we oppose it now?

I apologize for taking a shot at you....

The attack on Iran has been pushed ever since the Neocons were in power here. We already saw the results of their flawed foreign policy. Attacking Iran will serve to be yet another famous blunder.

I will always stand with any president who tries to push Israel to a more moderate stance.  Historically, holding the hard line has only served to embolden a country's enemies more. It isn't going to be any different with the Zionists. It may take another generation for Israel's hard-liners to completely die-off before for Israelis finally realize this. Israel is the last apartheid nation standing. They will moderate themselves or one day go the way of Rhodesia and South Africa
.

No prob... but there are atleast a hundred different ways this could go. Blind faith isn't my first choice.

What is the exit strategy? Or is there one? After the increased chaos do we back iran or the saudis?

I've been wondering too about the saudi oil output... they may be trying to punish their shia producing neighbors.

Lol... this shit is gonna get crazy when suicide bombers have nukes.

It does not take a suicide bomber among the nuclear club.......just the thought that they can succeed with a first strike and eliminate any second strike. That is not suicide, and that will be the most logical use of the weapon. India and Pakistan will be where the second nuclear explosion used in warfare will happen.

but of this ostensible ally repeatedly mistreating the United States and its president, regardless of political party.

Americans are not stupid. Israel is not stupid. How they got led down this path could only be justified by a checker player. The American people's backlash could get pretty scary for Israel.....total miscalculation.

WOW!!!! Fox News criticizing Obama's critics......

I have never seen it before. For once I agree with Fox.

Netanyahu is a wild-bull, and Obama needs to make sure he stays corralled.

The threat of an executive order freezing the release of Israel's $3 billion in military assistance for 2015 would definitely make the petulant Israeli PM soften his stance. Obama does not face re-election, so I say "go for it."

A checker player (Netanyahu) who has charge over a nuclear triad: nuclear-tipped Jericho IRBMs; long-range F-16I fighter-bombers, and German-made Dolphin submarines (which just happen to be armed with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles).

And he has the gall to whine about how his enemies want nukes, too.

I think you nailed it. The flight time of an IRBM between India and Pakistan is about 15 minutes, so lots of people will have no where to run.

These nuclear wannabes like Israel, India, Pakistan, North Korea need to understand the great responsibility that comes with owning such weapons. The U.S., UK, France, China, Russia--we all learned that you can't just threaten to bomb other countries you consider enemies. Nuclear weapons are meant for deterrence, and are weapons of last resort. I am thankful of this, because I am a Baby Boomer who survived the Cold War. I truly did not think we would make it through the 70s without pushing "the button."

Do we back Iran or the Saudis? Great question! Anyone who believes the Saudis have been or are our friends is insanely naive. Most of the 9-11 terrorists were Saudis, and they were financed by King Abdullah -- may he rot in hell. While the now dead King was dancing with Dubya, his government was pushing Wahhabi Islam -- which singles Israel and the U.S. as hateful, infidels. When it comes to choosing one side or the other, are we better off with a country that while pretending great friendship hates our guts, or with one who has openly called for our destruction.

Personally, I'd rather make friends with a true enemy than a sneaky, lying sonofabitch. With the open enemy, you always know where you stand.

This act by traitor Boehner and mishuginah Bibi is going to blow up in both their faces. By antagonizing the President of the U.S. and further jeopardize U.S. - Israeli relations Bibi will hurt his chances in the forthcoming election. As for Boehner's sneaky play, it even outrages Fox News!

Thanks John --once again you've given all of America proof of how whacko you republicans really are in your desperate unending attempts to slight our first black President.

It's good to know your enemies ...

A valid article with some truth. Our relationship with Saudi Arabia IS driven by oil. However, the devil-in-the-details is this: Are there really 460 billion barrels of "proven" reserves under those desert sands (between SA, Kuwait, and UAE)? That number is grossly overstated, and nobody will call the Saudis out on it because it would send a horrible shockwave through the oil markets.
