The estate tax must rise. It will take two generations to fix what President Reagan has done. America's democracy works with a level playing field, but when silver spooned incompetence controls our government, we have failed as a nation.

I sense this will be the major theme of the State of the Union.

I am one of the few people who tries to interact with you constructively. It just gets tedious when you make very little effort to carry on an intelligent conversation. Again, I have told you that you can make some nice points and actually add a lot to this forum when you are motivated......however you seemed to just be running on auto pilot at other times, and that is when people just disconnect.

Constructively????? If you and a few others were really willing to carry on a intelligent conversation you would admit when others have a valid point instead of toeing some progressive liberal line and making pathetic attempts at ridiculing them. I've added a lot the forum recently including in this very thread whether you wish to admit it or not. However you are generally more interested in attempting to assuage your white guilt and promote some agenda, like the ones I've added to lately, whose only end is to line the pockets of the 1%.

So is it now time to insult my intelligence, or suggest like Boards does about everyone he disagrees with that they have a reading comprehension problem, or suggest everyone's a racist again (and you talk about me running on autopilot?)?

Our new metric, the self-made scores developed for the Forbes 400, shows that increasingly we find self-made billionaires among the ranks of the richest people in the country. This has accompanied the incredible increase in wealth of the members of the Forbes 400, which has jumped 1,832% times since 1984, when the total net worth of our list was $125 billion, compared with $2.29 trillion today.

The figures show an unequivocal shift from inherited fortunes to self-made fortunes. In 1984, the first year for which we have crunched the numbers, we found that nearly one-fourth of the members of the Forbes 400 inherited their fortunes and weren’t doing anything to grow them. More specifically, 24.75% of the billionaires on our list were ranked as 1s (click here for a breakdown of how our rankings work).
