It now appears there was never a need for God, which an ever increasing number of us have accepted, much to the chagrin of those who are simply too weak and insecure to stand on their own two feet.

Science moves forward continually. Each step weakens the desperation that leaves so many of us afraid of being alone and on our own.

Reality.

The Fear of God is Utmost
…12But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. 13The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.

These, obviously, are the hopes and wishes of a Native American. Good stuff! Not a single threat of being roasted in hell for eternity by a God who loves you!! LOL

Life's biggest mystery is why one who hates Christians is so obsessed with them? Hate is an ugly thing that causes your focus to constantly be on what/who you hate.

On the other hand, the Christian (most of the ones I know) do not hate nonbelievers. Rather they have a soft spot in their heart for this person who obviously is so obsessed by not believing in God.

Faith cannot be "proved." Stop obsessing over this, Wordslinger, and move on your own way. Any Christian worth their belief will not condemn and argue with you to prove their point. Faith is not proving something you believe in. Faith comes from God. And I suppose this is why it is so important for you to disprove God.

Have fun. I think in your quest of disproving you will finally find him one day.

Peace.

Good point, I have often wondered why people who don't believe in something spend so much time trying to reinforce that mind set. Faith is not fear.

faith
fāTH/Submit
noun
1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

The article is about a scientific breakthrough in thermodynamics which disproves Creationism (aka intelligent design). It does not attempt to disprove the existence of God, but reinforces the science that discredits the supposed Biblical interpretation that the Earth is only 6,000 years old. Carbon dating does the same thing through a different approach. The author has clearly stated that the science does not disprove the existence of God, but leaves plenty of room for a divine presence in the scheme of the universe.

I'd like to respond. I'm an anti-theist -- not a simple atheist -- I'm against all religions, because I truly believe that instead of creating harmony between people, they create conflictive divisions. You know, the "mine is right and yours is wrong," syndrome.

The worst offenders, of course, are religious fundamentalists who insist that virtually every word in their holy book(s) is literal truth. These people use every ploy, including genocide, to enforce their "way" upon everyone else.

Religion isn't good, it's evil. As for me "someday finding God," I suppose that's less possible than a believer finally realizing they've been had.

I'm not the shy type, so I won't just sit and keep my mouth shut on this subject. One of my most important beliefs is that the world would be a much better place without religion.

Reality.

Yeah the world was definitely so much better for 20 million murdered under Stalin as he converted churches into office buildings and museums...he must have been your most beloved hero accomplishing your hearts desire by doing away with all hope.....

If one can't have hope without a building, etc. he's truly hopeless! Likewise, if you can't have hope without worshiping a god-figure, you're also hopeless.

Word.. you are obviously looking to the lord by these many threads that you devote to the almighty.

Bow your head now and repent boy. This may be your last chance.

Because christians propagate an ignorant view of the world.  And that isn't debatable.

That alone does a terrible disservice to those that they indoctrinate and it also promotes the oppression of others.  I can't imagine a more morally bankrupt way of life, and yet that is what guides many.  One cannot likely be elected president in this country unless they concede that they worship some primitive god that is clearly bullshit.  That should be of concern to everyone living in the 21st century.

Christianity, Judaism and Islamic religions require one to believe in creationism, which when studied as a reality, comes across as pure, unadulterated bullshit.

Which reminds me of a Texan I once knew who proclaimed that "he was illiterate and proud of it."

Every day, intelligent, diligent scientists push the envelope on our knowledge. The following article suggests that when the correct physical conditions are present, life is a logical, pre-ordained event. No God necessary.

http://www.alternet.org/belief/scientist-undos-wacky-creationism-claims

Has it occurred to you, as it as to me, that eventually everyone will know that God wasn't necessary or involved in any way with our galaxy, solar system, planets or life on earth?

All that's required is the intellectual desire to refuse to accept superstition as a reality.

If God had nothing whatever to do with your existence, you have nothing whatever to fear from it.

For all of you here who belittle my anti-theist thinking, and express the hope that I will someday find God, I toss you back the hope that someday you will conclude that a belief in a mystic, omnipotent mythical entity, is exactly that: MYTH.

Hate? In our not too distant past people believed that scurvy was the result of evil spirits and spells cast by Shamans. Then we discovered that the ingestion of limes cures and prevents the disease. The people who knew the real answer weren't expressing hate towards those who didn't.

I don't hate you for being stupid. Reality.

There is no hate there. I just made an observation.

I'll also point out that I am very fortunate to be living in the 21st century. A few hundred years ago the ignorant christians would brutally kill me for simply stating such an opinion. Fortunately for humanity, religion has been beaten back by science. In a few generations, it will be gone entirely and we'll all be better off.
