Anyone with a brain knows this is a lukewarm attempt to contain ISIS at best.

Retired Marine Gen. James Mattis, who served under Obama until last year, became the latest high-profile skeptic on Thursday, telling the House Intelligence Committee that a blanket prohibition on ground combat was tying the military’s hands. “Half-hearted or tentative efforts, or airstrikes alone, can backfire on us and actually strengthen our foes’ credibility,” he said. “We may not wish to reassure our enemies in advance that they will not see American boots on the ground.”

Mr. Mattis sits on the board of General Dynamics.

Yes, the MIC's dogs of war are in a full lather and barking loudly.

Resist, Mr. President.

Resist.

So you want to win the Syrian Civil war by having somebody stand on the ground, and you want to win the Iraq Civil war by having somebody stand on the ground......I vote for the French......they can redeem their reputation as being an intelligent nation, and join the ranks of stupid.

The boogey man ISIS is a small risk to America which will most certainly kill Americans. However, drunk drivers kill tens of thousands of Americans each year, and we put boots on the ground, filled our prisons, and made people rich, but we sure did not solve the problem by stopping people from driving impaired. I vote to give cursory coverage to ISIS and start protecting American lives by addressing drunk driving and mandatory ignition interlocks. Every vehicle in America could have one installed for free if we spent that money we threw down the rabbit hole in Iraq in one year on protecting Americans. The real terrorist in America are the MIC and the alcohol and restaurant industries which lobby to steal American wealth and lives.

Retired military generals have a revolving-door with MIC corporations, just like corrupt politicians have one with Wall Street.

I think we need to recall a phrase made famous by Nancy Reagan, and start a "Just Say No" campaign for war.

But the reasons are always so compelling... reminds me of how govt sticks it's nose in everything we do.

Had semi-retired President Barack Hussein Obama followed the advice of his generals when he took office, we would not be in this mess today.  He was bull headed and arrogant then and he is today.  For as long as he can remember, he has been told he is the smartest person in the room.  He actually believes he is.

RIGHT SAL! Have ISIS bring the battle here so we don't have to spend so much sending out troops to the battle!

Smart thinking!

Aren't these military generals the same ones who advocated going to war in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan?

"Crikey," as Steve Irwin used to say, just before harassing some deadly wild animal "in the bush."

If the subject is saving the American people from incredible expenses in blood and money, from their track record since WWII, it's abundantly clear American presidents should NEVER, EVER listen to the military!!
