A few weeks ago Bob peaked my interest by saying he was posting at a more friendly forum.

I thought he was talking about the Everyday Pensacola site (he apparently wasn't), but I decided to take a visit.

All the yappy little bitches who couldn't hang with the big dogs have gathered there - Nochain, Mediawatcher, Chrissy, Stormy, Teo, etc.

Even Dreams was there, but she got booted a couple of days after I started visiting.

Eric, the fellow I'm accused of running from this forum because he thought criticizing religion was out of bounds, is the mod.

Anyhoo, I started posting there occasionally just to disrupt their circle jerks, and yesterday I was banned for ....

.... wait for it .....

.... being snarky!!!

I remember exactly when nochain and mediawatcher ran off.  One of them posted this long article about the muslim brotherhood.  They added their own commentary which was very anti-muslim brotherhood, and they appeared to be under the impression that the article supported that stance.  The only problem was that the article supported a polar opposite stance.  Their reading comprehension was so poor that they could not grasp the underlying message of the article.  After that was pointed out, each miraculously disappeared, never to be heard from again.

Some internet users are better off in the comfort of a private cave of safety where they will never have their incredibly fragile world view challenged.  I can't say that I blame them.  If my worldview consisted of a shoddy framework of bullshit completely divorced from reality, I'd probably be over there as well.  But, alas, I can defend my beliefs and am comfortable enough with them that I can handle it when others challenge them.

To be un assed from the everyday forum is an affirmation that you are indeed a world class asshole. Eric has few rules for his forum and civility and no profanity shouldn't be hard for most to try to follow. Sal, you have admitted time and again that the only reason that you post is "to get a rise from someone" and for your entertainment which is all well and good but dont act like a fucking choirboy when you get unassed for that behavior. Oh, and fuck you in advance for whatever stupid ass comment you post as a rebuttal to mine.

People are often intimidated. Nobody likes that feeling if they believe they are not able to compete in a particular arena of ideas. It is human nature to seek safety and comfort. Nothing wrong with running. It is instinctual and it allows a person's ideas to remain unchallenged. I think Eric is a good person. I am glad he has provided a safe room for those who need it. There is no safety here. I love the attacks I receive daily which require me to actually defend concepts. I remember the old PNJ Navarre Beach thread. It was one of the most vibrant threads on the PNJ. However, about five posters did not like the negative things which were being said about the beach and the economy. They broke away and formed a forum. They placed ads for realtors and were very positive about supporting illusions about the issues facing the beach, and quickly started banning people who disagreed. Six years later there are a handful of people who now have spilled over to attacking the President........there are so many interesting psychological factors which promote these type of migrations.......I just stay until the end, and see no reason to run from ideas or people......silly seventh grade insecurities.

I was out at a sports bar on Monday watching NFL preseason when I started talking politics with these two older guys who were sitting near me at the bar.  They were self-identified Ted Cruz republicans.  There was not one point that we agreed on and one of them quickly asked for his tab and stormed out at one point, but the other stayed and we argued through the entire game - getting fairly heated a few times.  

At the end of the night we shook hands and parted ways - each having enjoyed a fun hour or so of heated political debate.  It was great!  Definitely not for everyone, though.

A tidbit about that night.  I asked them what they felt posed the greatest threat to the US today.  They both agreed that it was ISIS.  I said it was an evaporating middle class.

Some people cannot operate at that level. It is very scary for them. I get it. Fear and self doubt make this place uncomfortable for some. However, I never left the PNJ until this forum had been going for six months. I never visited the Cave, and got PM after PM for the invite. Early on I got the invite to Eric's with PMs, but honestly some of the people over there would feel uncomfortable, or I would have to lie in my posts and enter some fantasy world. Again, Eric is missed by me, but he is a good man who has made a safe place for people who really need some safeguards to feel comfortable. Nothing wrong with the reality of the differences in people, and recognizing there different needs. I miss Surf, Requiem, and Margin, who possess high levels of intelligence and life experiences, but for the most part we still have ample intelligent conversations and it is a joy to learn something......but people puking out propaganda and speaking minding numbing stupid.......that is far less fun.

Some like to discuss/debate issues with a sense that a solution or agreement can be had at the end. With that in mind as a goal most carry forward with civility and respect for fellow posters. This place is a free for all with no such expectation of solution or agreement and definitely no civility. Most simply begin shooting the messenger with no regard for the message. Its a hog wallow at best but entertaining for the few shutins that still frequent this place. When seaoat goes it will go with him and probably for the best as he is what keeps this place lively and is the only one left here with an original thought. Simply an observation...take it as you will

There are plenty of people who still contribute to this forum and Eric's forum. What both forums are missing is a conduit for new membership and new ideas. The PNJ had a four hundred thousand audience, and plenty of new people joining all the time.....but that became a full time job to monitor, and the economics simply do not work. The truth is without a new conduit being designed to bring new people to a forum, it is just a matter of time before the forum's survival becomes finite. I have nothing to do with the forum survival. I do not matter now, and I will not matter when I am gone. However, I would like folks to talk about a new conduit which opens participation, rather than running from different ideas. We were the best on the PNJ when we had about 100 active participants.

Your posts played better to a big audience, but there were never 400k online at the same time, just the scope of the PNJ market.......there is no entry portal to these remaining forums. If a person were to pay for a link on the PNJ on the article threads of the PNJ........both forums would get new members. That is the challenge.

It's a song about living in a sterilized and homogenized society and had absolutely nothing to do with Eric's religion.

She never ran away even when she knew she was outgunned. However, you must have known somebody other than I knew. Cat and her would have knock down drag down verbal fights which were personal. I used to regularly post for everybody to stop those silly parochial seventh grade behavior.....to which I was told by both sides.....I did not understand.

However, she would never run away like some have run away, because she was intelligent and had courage........she could take a bump or two, and was very well adjusted psychologically.
