There needs to be a national discussion and legislation dealing with the use of lethal force. Simply an unnecessary killing of a mentally ill citizen. The Barney standard has to return to the Andy standard. Every American citizen is at risk as the violence against citizens in this country is escalating, and there is no justification......none. There are alternatives.

It does not look like the officer was being bumrushed to me. If that detail was false... it would tip the scales for me.

Btw... it pisses me off when people walk down the middle of the street and then throw dirty looks when you make them move. If I was a cop I'd hand out tickets for that shit. I don't understand the purpose... is it a power trip or what?

He was mentally Ill and 10 feet from the police car........how about roll up the window and use the speaker to talk him down.......is it really easier to kill someone? By easier do I mean is there less harrassment, paperwork, and time to shoot a person dead than to use other police methods of subduing a mentally Ill suspect.

He was told to drop something. Video resolution and volume not good enough to catch it all.

Policeman giving report at beginning of video said it was a knife.

As close as he was to the car there'd be no way I'd be attempting to reenter the car with a guy coming at me. Most especially one that might be armed. Which appears to be the case. This isn't Mayberry RFD and people do attempt to hurt and kill others even if that other is a policeman.

If the video is real and he pulled a knife then it's most likely an open and shut case.
