If a politican can convince the least talented white person, with little education, or resources that he is better than the most talented, educated and wealthy black person, you have a license to pick that white person's pockets

This was paraphrased, and it has many ways to state the same thing, but it was originally attributed to President Johnson. We need to realize who the enemy is. The enemy does not have a race. It is unfettered capitalism and accumulated wealth which buys politicians to divide this nation and allow the continued theft of this nation.

I just watched the documentary "Inequality for All" by Robert Reich. It goes into the history of wealth distribution mainly from 1928-9 to 2010. He talks about globalization and technological advancements but also tax structure.

It is often said that the 1% are the "Job Creators" but actually Reich points out that since our economy is driven 70% by consumer spending it is really the discretionary income of the middle class that is the job creator since the wealthy spend far less of their income on goods than the average family.

It is on Netflix and won't put you to sleep.

Now that we're living with the Citizen's United ruling it is the wealth of the rich that goes into convincing the masses that they should vote to have their pockets picked. By the looks of things they are doing a pretty good job.

That is part of the problem I agree.

But another part of the problem is the mistaken notion that socialism without capitalism (the welfare state) is a viable alternative.

What each extreme belief leads to is the promotion of both the rich and the poor at the expense of the middle class.
It happens because the rich are constittents of one political party and the poor the other.

When my daughter's tax liability is proportionately 3x Mitt Romney's...Houston, we have a problem.

Yes. And the poor contribute nothing. Again, it's the middle class picking up the tab.

What I would advocate would be regulated capitalism with tax rates going back to a point where they supplied the government with enough revenue to run the country, build roads, dams, electrical grid, etc. and to not go into military adventures without paying for them. The combination of reducing taxes on the wealthy and then going into debt in the Middle East was not a good move.

Please don't confuse regulations for socialism, a very different set up.

What I would like to see are more employee owned corporations like Publix.
None of the republican or democrat assholes ever talk about the success of that. Because that's a stimulus for the middle class instead of the rich or the poor and the middle class has no political party.

Please show us the dollars your daughter paid for in taxes and the collars paid the the Romney's. Include too how many dollars the Romney's contributed to charity as well as your daughter and, to be fair, you need to disclose the same for our semi-retired President and Vice-President.

I like that plan too. I need to find out how it is set up because I have an idea about profit sharing with craft people (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc.) having to do with home building or renovation work.
