Still not as low as what the clown inherited from Bush at 1.89 per gallon.

What's peculiar is that we always hear how gas prices are spiked because of unrest in MidEast and that
Region is in total uproar with a full blown battle going on right now in multiple places.

It has nothing to do with politicians and who is president, and everything to do with resource depletion and geology, along with cost of extraction and general dollar-inflation. Oil and gas production on federal lands is in free fall under Obama

Oil and gas production has stalled on federal lands for the third year in a row under the Obama administration, despite booming energy production on private and state lands, according to a new government report.

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) says that the share of oil and gas production coming from federal lands have plummeted from 2009 to 2013. Oil production on federal lands fell by 11 percent over this time period and natural gas production fell by 28 percent.

Federal onshore oil production fell for the third year in a row, while offshore oil production increased slightly — just enough to increase total oil production by 15,300 barrels per day in 2013 above 2012 levels.

I have already explained that the federal government is paid substantially less in royalties from drilling on federal lands compared to royalties paid to private land owners.

If you will look at the comparative chart, you will see that from November of 2006, gas prices rose almost continuously to an all time high before plummeting, along with everything else, during the worst economic crash since the Depression.

Technology has enabled American oil companies to unlock previously inaccessible oil and gas (so called "unconventional" deposits) within the North American land mass. We have over 100 billion barrels of recoverable unconventional oil on-land (not offshore) This is a good thing for America's economy, because we are importing less oil than previously, and will be until mid-century. The reason the price will keep rising is because the cost of extraction of unconventional oil deposits is extremely high; much higher than easier to extract and now largely depleted conventional oil deposits. This is but one factor that will keep the price of your gasoline higher.

I know your head will pop as gas goes above $5.00 per gallon, but that price level is on the horizon in just a few years; in fact it will go much higher than that as time marches forward. It will not be a result of a conspiracy; it will be driven by geology, mostly. That is a fact--get it through your head.

So, you and everyone else will eventually have to curb your energy use to avoid high gasoline bills. This means succumbing to higher-mileage vehicles/gas-electric hybrids/electric cars instead of muscle cars and trucks, and things like that---I know, anathema to a Republican like you....  Razz

Most of the "Federal Lands" Markle and wingnut editorialists like to carp about when they spin posts and articles about energy include the entire Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge and the parts of the Gulf of Mexico currently held off limits to drilling. Of course, no Republican politician would be truly willing to risk political suicide by actually promoting energy exploration in these regions. However, this argument is a useful "lie" that they bring up often when trying to discount President Obama's energy policy. Regardless, oil production continues to climb, as it has every year since the beginning of Obama's presidency. That is a FACT that can only be refuted by spinning bullshit.
