Obama, 2007: Time to End ‘Deplorable Conditions at Some VA Hospitals’

Then-Senator Barack Obama, November 12, 2007: “After seven years of an Administration that has stretched our military to the breaking point, ignored deplorable conditions at some VA hospitals, and neglected the planning and preparation necessary to care for our returning heroes, America’s veterans deserve a President who will fight for them not just when it’s easy or convenient, but every hour of every day for the next four years.”

By 2012, Obama continued to compare the performance of the VA during his administration favorably to his predecessor, declaring, “For the first time ever, we’ve made military families and veterans a top priority not just at DOD, not just at the VA, but across the government.”

Now we know the report of at least 40 U.S. veterans dying waiting for appointments at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care system is only the tip of the iceberg.

I'm not surprised that he said that...he was on the Veterans Affairs Committee at the time, and the scandal had just broken at Walter Reed (2007). I've already posted a long list of the efforts by President Obama, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, and others (like the recent veterans bill introduced by Bernie Sanders, to improve conditions for veterans. This has been an ongoing theme throughout the Obama administration...helping vets. This appears to be yet another attempt by the fringers on the far right to discredit the President.

If he knew the system was effed up 7 years ago, why wasn't he making it a priority to fix? Why? He's talking out the side of his neck again and he's already made it a point to try and label us as mentally deficient if we have TBI or PTSD. With that he wants to take our guns. Won't happen though unless he's ready to start the end of the country.

It is another disaster and even respectable Democrats are rightfully outraged. You, on the other hand, side with the Socialist. It is NOT money, it IS mismanagement, lack of incentive and a systemic failure.

By the way, after only 23 days, President Barack Hussein Obama said he learned about this latest scandal from...ta da the newspapers. If you chose to believe that, you're in serious trouble.

The President is fair game on this one. This is his screw up. He needs to fix it......he bought it.

Looks like you're out on your own on this one. President George Walker Bush traveled to Walter Reed when that scandal broke and fixed the problem. President Barack Hussein Obama knew about the problem and railed against it way back in 2007. His transition team in 2008 was advised about the problem. He "spoke" about it virtually every year since but has done...as usual...zip, zero, nada, nothing!

AGAIN, he'll feign outrage...then either go on vacation or play a few rounds of golf. Maybe he should get in a baseball pitching coach to give him a couple lessons. What do you think?

So obama is going to get to the bottom of a govt agency manipulating their statistics? This ought to be good.

You can look up the links yourself, Markle, but you do need to research the positive changes that have occurred in the VA health care system over the last several years before you start slamming President Obama for "doing nothing."
