Less than one year. I didn't vote for him the second time... and was highly critical of his progressive govt solutions and controls.

1:15 a.m.: The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence,* having asked for talking points, gets a draft from the CIA’s Office of Terrorism Analysis. It starts with this line, "We believe based on currently available information that the attacks in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault against the U.S. consulate and subsequently its annex."

12:23 p.m.: The CIA's office of general counsel adds a line about the "inspired by the protests" theory being inconclusive.

3:04 p.m.: The talking points are sent to relevant White House aides, including Ben Rhodes.

4:42 p.m.: The CIA circulates new talking points but removes a mention of al Qaida.

6:21 p.m.: The White House (Tommy Vietor, not Ben Rhodes) ads a line about the administration warning, on September 10, of social media reports calling for demonstrations.

7:39 p.m.: State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland objects to some of the language because "the penultimate point could be abused by members to beat the State Department for not paying attention to Agency warnings."

8:09 p.m.: Ben Rhodes sends the "smoking gun" email, nine hours after the first draft of talking points from the CIA said that the attacks grew out of a demonstration.


NINE HOURS AFTER THE CIA TALKING POINTS SAID THE ATTACKS GREW OUT OF A DEMONSTRATION.

There's nothing new here.

CIA Role in Benghazi Attack Comes Into Focus

"...And the prominent involvement of the CIA in Benghazi raises as many questions as it resolves, including why there was so little intelligence ahead of the attack, and insufficient manpower to protect against it.

But there were other potentially mitigating consequences of the CIA's significant involvement in the facility, the U.S. official told HuffPost. For one thing, according to an in-depth investigation by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, it was partly confusion over who had ultimate responsibility for security at the compound, particularly in an emergency situation like the September attack, that contributed to the disarray during the response.

"State Department officials believed that responsibility was set to be shouldered in part by CIA personnel in the city through a series of secret agreements that even some officials in Washington didn't know about," the Journal wrote.

The Journal's report placed the blame for many of the missteps in Benghazi specifically on CIA director David Petraeus, who was described as aloof in the weeks after that episode. Petraeus was faulted for failing to attend the funeral of the two former Navy SEALS, both identified as CIA contractors, who died during the attack, and for later attending a screening of the spy-thriller "Argo" amid sensitive internal deliberations..."

BS.... He ran off in Air Force One and flew around the country aimlessly for hours, until landing at an Air Force base in Nebraska. The Shrub was nowhere near his advisers while all of this went down. And, after he was informed of the attacks, he continued his photo-op with the My Pet Goat kids for several minutes so as not to upset them by suddenly leaving. Now, that's what I call true heroism!

That would be typical protocol when they had airplanes running into buildings (some headed right back for DC) and until every airplane was out of the sky and not headed to DC, that was the safest thing to do. I can't imagine with this bunch of kooks in the WH would have done at that point aside from utterly look asinine.
