Both the dems and repubs accept money from big donor's and the donor's usually except something in return, but this Adelson is making no bones about it, he's buying them lock, stock and barrel just to ban internet poker. Scott is now in the act.

Last week, while several 2016 presidential hopefuls were in Las Vegas hoping to grab the attention of billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, our governor decided to announce his opposition to Internet gaming in Florida via Twitter. He even went a step further and said he supports a nationwide ban! Coincidentally, so does Sheldon Adelson. He and his company, Las Vegas Sands, are leading the charge and recruiting lawmakers across the country to outlaw Internet poker. Looks like Governor Scott was screaming out for some attention. (Oh, did I mention that Sheldon Adelson once gave Rick Scott a $250,000.00 political donation!?)

Let's make sure Governor Scott gets the attention he deserves from Florida’s poker community. He wants to outlaw our game online and we want a safe and regulated place to play. He wants a prohibition and we want strong consumer protections. Take action today and tell him what you want!

In just 60 seconds you can send a pre-filled, fully editable letter to Governor Scott. Just click here.

You can also send this pre-filled Tweet to Governor Scott.

Help us stand up for poker in Florida. Don’t let Governor Scott make Black Friday permanent.

This is the corruption which the Supreme Court addressed, yet who is better to assess the corruption, the courts, or Congress who was assigned the responsibility for elections, which has been hijacked by Citizens and the failure to recognize folks like this person who is taking revenue from States to support public projects from internet gambling, and funnels all gambling to his monopoly of casinos. Multiply this corruption 100 fold now, and how can it be addressed if money has become a fundamental right connected to free speech. The failure is the myopic view of corruption.....the Supremes say they will respond to corruption, but have no responsibility for the same as they have handcuffed congress.

I could care less about online gambling. sounds like just another thing for people to get addicted to online and spend their rent money.

Now what is really scary is SOROS OWNING THE LEFT and our president currently. And not only does soros own them by way of donations, there are pacs, multiple web sites they flock to for their daily dose of sheep food.

But don't you worry, soros is going to make those damn lazy assed welfare voters happy by spending 80 MILLION $$$$$$$$$$$ to make sure they get their pot fix.

Yea, I saw that about soros and the 80 million, it was spent over the years along with the founder of progressive insurance.

Doesn't matter what party, it pisses me off I cannot do something in my own home that does not hurt anyone else. Any addict is going to find their fix whether legal or not, they always have and always will. So it doesn't matter what they legalize, won't bring anymore addicts to the table than the future already will.

It pisses me off that any politician is bought and paid for just like a whore. They are all slime bags in my book.

I agree. I am not happy about the buying off of politicians, however this isn't new. from unions, to corporations/rich people.

The country has successfully been divided beyond repair in my opinion.

Best I can do at this point in this economical harsh environment is keep my head above water.

and you really want to know how I feel about it? Im tired of worrying about it, arguing about it. They all suck and I am letting it infect my life negatively. And I have to stop or at least try.

I want my life back.

I make $20,000 a year more than 5 years ago and have less dependents and my quality of life has gone down. Everything I have to pay is more expensive. I told my gf this morning I was considering buying a motor home and living in that. Going simple which would allow me to save more of my income to get the hell out of this rat race quicker.

I'm pretty comfortable in understanding that one side is fucking me in the left ear, and the other is fucking me in the right ear. And that is not where I prefer to be fucked LOL

Do you see what Im a missin?

It's going to take a Constitutional Amendment:

Senators Tester and Udall Introduce New Constitutional Amendments to Overturn Citizens United
Submitted by Lindsay Van Dyke on Tue, 06/18/2013 - 11:31
Constitutional Amendment
Senator Tester's bill is first-ever in US Senate to make clear that constitutional rights are only for people, not corporations

WASHINGTON, DC. – Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) received praise from democracy advocates today for introducing a companion bill to Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern’s “People’s Rights Amendment.”

Senator Tester’s bill mirrors language in the House bill, H.J. Res 21, making it clear that corporations do not have constitutional rights as if they were people. The House bill enjoys bi-partisan support from Republican Rep. Walter Jones (NC-3), along with many other co-sponsors, including Democratic Rep. John Conyers, Jr. (MI-13), the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee.

Another, similar House-Senate pair of bills is also gaining support – H.J.Res. 20, also by Rep. McGovern (MA-2), and a bill re-introduced today by Senator Tom Udall (D-NM), which would restore the authority of Congress and the states to limit campaign spending in elections. A previous introduction of the bill by Sen. Udall had 25 U.S. Senate co-sponsors.

"These two constitutional amendment bills are critical to reclaiming our democracy," said John Bonifaz, executive director of Free Speech For People, referring to the People’s Rights Amendment by Sen. Tester and Rep. McGovern, and the campaign spending amendment by Sen. Udall and Rep. McGovern. "We must reverse Citizens United and ensure that people, not corporations, govern in America and that the nation lives up to its fundamental promise of political equality for all.

“Senator Tester’s sponsorship of the People’s Rights Amendment and Senator Udall’s re-introduction of his amendment bill on campaign spending represent significant political developments for our movement,” Bonifaz continued. “They reflect the growing support across the country for overturning Citizens United and restoring democracy to the people.”

Last week, Free Speech For People issued a major report documenting more than 100 Republican officials across the country in support of a constitutional amendment to reverse Citizens United. The report can be found here: http://j.mp/AcrossTheAisle

Here's a link to selections from Justice Breyer's dissent:

http://www.alternet.org/investigations/arm-yourself-read-breyers-dissent-mccutcheon-v-fec?paging=off&current_page=1#bookmark

(He is, of course, joined by the other 3 justices who still have functioning brains. Here's a snippet:)

What has this to do with corruption? It has everything to do with corruption.Corruption breaks the constitutionally necessary “chain of communication” between the people and their representatives. It derails the essential speech-to-government-action tie. Where enough money calls the tune, the general public will not be heard. Insofar as corruption cuts the link between political thought and political action, a free marketplace of political ideas loses its point. That is one reason why the Court has stressed the constitutional importance of Congress’ concern that a few large donations not drown out the voices of the many. That is also why the Court has used the phrase“subversion of the political process” to describe circumstances in which “elected officials are influenced to act contrary to their obligations of office by the prospect of financial gain to themselves or infusions of money into their campaigns.”
The “appearance of corruption” can make matters worse. It can lead the public to believe that its efforts to communicate with its representatives or to help sway public opinion have little purpose. And a cynical public can lose interest in political participation altogether.

Whether it is George Soros or the Koch brothers they are what is wrong with our process . . . . the influence they wield is difficult to comprehend and it only illustrates the changes we as a society should demand in campaign financing . . . . it is corrupt beyond belief.
