Tesla stock jumped almost 9% today. A year ago you could have bought it for $33. Now it's at $209.

I have a very conservative friend who bought a volt in November to get the tax credit. He drives less than 30 miles a day and claims he has not filled his tank with gas. He absolutely loves the electric car. It makes no sense for us until it can get up to 100 miles on a charge. The Prius is more economical in our commute range.

Tesla got all the attention because electric cars are controversial and in the media spotlight. No other car fires are.

The reason the stock jumped today, is because Tesla is selling cars as fast as it can make them. The quarterly earnings per share were about 50% greater than stock analyists had predicted.
And Tesla is just in the beginning stage of making it's car available in China.
China is a helluva market for electric cars. It's now flush with money and the number of wealthy consumers who can afford to buy a Tesla in China is skyrocketing. At the same time the country is literally choking to death from air pollution and is looking for cars that don't pollute.

There was a period in the early sixties to mid sixties that I would spend every saturday at a slot car track after going to the Y in the morning and race for five hours. My brother could tear anything apart and make it better and he dominated slots and pinewood derbies. He did not do very well in school, but he was a mechanical genius and those races served him well in later life.

Electric is the future of transportation in America and if we begin using the NG to produce the same and get off imported oil with wind and solar to boot, our balance of trade is going to be amazing and we will be faced with growing prosperity once we get the taxation thing worked out and quit the transfer of wealth to the 1%. Electric cars rock.

I agree, that's all an electric car can ever be. Nothing more than a slot car or a golf cart.
Anybody with a lick of sense knows that real cars will always be run on gasoline.
Gasoline is the only conservative fuel. Electricity is kids stuff and liberal hogwash.

If I was you, I would record the sound that Harley engine makes and burn it to a CD. Then put the CD in your car's CD player, turn up the volume, and sell the Harley.
