I spoke with her husband. Neko remains on a ventilator and she is sedated.

Flu shots are not near the magic everyone thinks they are,

I think I will listen to the doctors, but only 40% of Americans are getting the flu shot which will go a long way to slow a pandemic, but if anti science superstition continues to reinforce the idea that a flu shot carries more risk than benefit, more Americans will be at risk. The flu is very serious. I lost my great grandfather who was a healthy 40 year old in the flu epidemic. I also think people are skeptical of prayer, but Neko is in my prayers. Unlike the certainty of science, some may criticize prayer.......but I want to cover my bases and I want Neko back here telling me I am wrong. The guy upstairs needs to know how important she is to all of us.

This is the latest info....


She will most likely be getting a tracheostomy. The H1N1 she has is very severe as well as the pnemonia which is preventing her lungs from working. We need her PEEP to get lower as well as her oxygen. They cannot do much until Monday. Strong prayers needed.

Positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is the pressure in the lungs ...

Bilateral pneumonia and the swine flu. The infection most likely damaged her lungs.

This is very distressing. I don't know much about the swine flu. How do you get it? Did she have a flu shot and does that help w/ swine flu?

That is bad. They wanted to do one on me when I was in SHH in 2008, and I refused it. I agree, prayers are needed, and they do help.

Has anyone let Eric and other migratory posters know about any of this on the Everyday Pensacola Forum?

The current flu shot covers the swine flu. Those who have had the flu shot have a very high probability of not contracting the same. My son is sick and is in bad shape at thirty years of age but is riding it out hoping his breathing gets no worse, and my daughter just sent a text that her high school friend's dad is in the hospital in critical condition with H1n1....there were 19 thousand people who died of this in 2009, and a flu shot is critical in stopping a pandemic. All the anti science and anti intellectual voodoo which passes for science contributes to people not getting their flu shots each year. The flu is very dangerous and flu shots save people's lives.

There is no debate. People need to get their flu shots.......period. It is not a fricking game. People's lives depend on not getting the swine flu. It takes up to two weeks after the flu shot to get full protection, but prime flu season is in February. Please get your flu shot. T you can start any thread you want focusing on misinformation. That is your right.
