OBAMA: I, like most Americans, believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms. And we recognize the traditions of gun ownership that passed on from generation to generation -– that hunting and shooting are part of a cherished national heritage.

But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals –– that they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities. I believe the majority of gun owners would agree that we should do everything possible to prevent criminals and fugitives from purchasing weapons; that we should check someone’s criminal record before they can check out a gun seller; that a mentally unbalanced individual should not be able to get his hands on a gun so easily. These steps shouldn’t be controversial. They should be common sense.


I don't think Obama has a clue about guns. I doubt if he ever fired one...He was too busy smoking pot...

You already know that I grew up around guns, and at the time, Texas had open carry laws. But I don't see a damn thing wrong with Obama's statement above, and I think it took courage for him to make a statement like that at all, given the fact that it's getting close to election time and this subject is so politicized it's ridiculous.

Yes I watched it. Very sad. Kind of gross if your not used ot seeing baody parts and stuff.

I'm with you, I wont bow down if a situation like that happened. But if you remember i mentioned that the whole in the road battle wouldnt happen like that when obama took office, that it would be a slow burn. And it will stay a slow burn. The people n this country wont be led into huts like in those countries. The poeple in this country will be convinced they need to go into those huts.
