Why do old farts have to use checks in the grocery line? Somebody needs to tell them this is 2013.

C'mon now...y'all.  Don't get all upset about a thread about standing in line. Dang, I hate standing in line too.   Y'all are kind of hard on Dreams although Dreams is like a bulldog...she doesn't back down.  Not at all.  lol.

You know, a cashier makes a big difference about how much time you have to wait.  I have found many Walmart cashiers to be incredibly slow.  When we were in Huntsville, we shopped at Costco and their cashiers are fast.  But then, they don't have to bag groceries.  Also, my experience in shopping at commissaries is that the cashiers are super fast.  If we had slow cashiers here at the NAS Jax commissary, the line would be a half a mile long.   And coupons are very popular with commissary customers, but the cashiers are really fast at scanning those, too.    At Publix, when there are more than a couple of people in line, they try to open up another register.  I like that.  Also, you don't hear nearly as many screaming kids in Publix, like in Walmart.  And in Walmart, every noise echos through the entire store.  I hate that!  I think a lot of kids get "overload" or something in Walmart--too many sounds, too many people.  And they have breakdowns/tantrums.

Anyway, this thread has taken a direction that is sad to me.  Crying or Very sad

Adults too.

I've often wondered if more crazy people shop at Walmart, or if shopping at Walmart drives people crazy.

I avoid it like the plague.

I hate shopping at Walmart.  The one here nearest my house is not as bad as a lot I've shopped in though.   I think that is because there is another, newer, Walmart just a few miles down the road from the one closest to me. It took a load off this other Walmart.  I am amazed at their ability to have two large stores that close to each other.  Love them or hate them, Walmart's success has to be admired on some level.  lol.

I learned early in life to always tell the truth...that's what I've been doing on this forum; that's what I did on the PNJ forum. If the truth is too hard for you to handle, I'm sorry for you...all of you who don't want to acknowledge the harm that was done to our country by the sorriest excuse for a president we've ever had.

Besides killing Kennedy, what other evil deeds was Bush Sr involved in?  I am curious!

FT, I really must call you on this one. Statistics do not bear out the fact that Bush was the sorriest excuse for a president we have ever had. I say that as a non biased responder because I am neither a Bush nor an Obama supporter.

I always thought that was Johnson.

Dreams is like a bulldog...she doesn't back down.

You are correct, she reminds me a lot of Seaoat in their tenacity and think they are always right even when proven wrong.

I'm retired. My life is at a much slower pace and I love it.

When  I was working, took call,  had kids, and coached, I did everything possible to reduce stress in the grocery store....someone  writing a check was not the source of my irritation.

My irritation came from shoppers....the people who left the cart in the middle of the aisle while they walked up and down, the women chit-chatting while blocking the shelves and aisle. The one idiot that had to cruise in the opposit direction of everyone else. The screaming child,  the kids running wild, the mom and teen yelling at each other ( when mom should have just knocked the crap out of the kid). The person blocking items while reading every label knowing you are waiting.  I hated the  person that hovered over the meat counter while their cart blocked every piece of  meat  in that section. The person that drops several pieces of produce and doesn't pick them up. The people who rush to beat you to the check-out...and cuts right in front of you. The person with $100.00 worth of groceries in the express lane should be shot.....but the person writing a check gives me a chance o take a relaxing breath.  Back then, I started shopping after 10 pm.

I've slowed down and hopefully I' m not the source of someone's irritation. Maybe I am.....who knows.

I always admit I am wrong on a sports prediction. I am rarely wrong on anything else, so there is rarely any need for tenacity.

The people who block the meat counter with their cart...and they look at every package of meat...very, very slowly.  The people who park their cart smack dab in the middle of the aisle and then browse the shelves.   And the kids running wild.

I agree.

Opinions are not facts and there's a lot of difference, however, you have shown yourself to be an unmitigated jerk over someone's pet peeve... so I wouldn't be criticizing anyone. I think I'm gonna start calling you "low blow Joe."

Call me whatever you want, I've been called worse. Just don't call me late for supper.

Maybe the reason Old Farts use checkbooks in the checkout line just to drive young idiots crazy. Makes sense to me!!

What's that line? To be old and wise you have to first be young and stupid.

LOL
