Something I learned from my mother who was a very strict Christian lady. She said if you are down on your luck and you must ask for help, you do it modestly and if you are helping those who need help you do it descretly because the glory is for God.

^^^ Together my parents shaped the way I think about charity and how it should be handled.

Putting your stuff out here is a desperate move, fine. But it should have been handled descretly after that, not carried on.

There are good people on this forum.  I had dinner sent over for that first night, Sunday I think.  It was just the one dinner, not a big deal.  But I hope it helped a little.   And the pizza I had sent didn't have anyone's name on it...it was for anyone in the family who wanted some pizza.   

I hate to see this all turned into something ugly.  Cool is one of the sweetest posters on this forum.

Indeed, it is a real turn-off. I won't say what I did, but I also gave an assist for this effort. The ugliness shown on this thread and the other one will likely dissuade me from participating in any future helping efforts through this forum. Some of ya'll just don't know when to turn it off.

You're right, my heart is sort of mushy.  I am just ignoring the nasty comments directed at cool, and I hope she can ignore them, too.
