Deputy Health Secretary C. Meade Grigg issued the order to Florida’s 60 local health department directors, according to the Miami Herald.

Although Grigg didn’t comment, agency spokeswoman Ashley Carr said the order’s purpose was to promote “clarity” and “a consistent message” across the agency.

“Navigators are not acting on behalf of the Department of Health and this program has raised privacy concerns due to the consumer information that will be gathered for use in a federal database,” Carr said in a statement.

At least one person was elated. Heather Ann Searfoss

The navigators never ask for private health information, because it's unneeded and totally irrelevant in the Obamacare sign-up process.  The whole thing is a crock of pure, unadulterated B.S., and hurts Florida citizens who need help in the process.

There was some issues with navigators working in government offices, I don't think a lot of the employees liked it.

however, navigators do take some of your personal information such as how much you earn ect

either way, fl didn't ban navigators I just think some health departments didn't want them in there.

Good for Florida. Gov Scott also slapped down the Common Core morons too by saying no Florida schools would be participating in CC assessments. Now if we could just get the districts to stop going forward with their lessons already being utilized and practicing CC questions on their tests/exams, it would be great.

The far right never ceases to amaze . . . they will eat their young if it will patronize their base.  I looked back at a piece recently published in the Tallahassee Democrat regarding this topic and am pasting the final short paragraphs.  Common Core has been adopted by 45 states and the District of Columbia so we can only guess who that handful of states are that has opted out, probably MS, OK, NC, SC so Florida kids will join their ranks now that Scott has capitulated to the TP seeking re-election.

It confuses the issue and delays progress. Scott seems to be joining with GOP leaders in the state House and Senate who say they support the standards – but not PARCC. Yet Scott also is calling for public hearings that could change the Common Core Standards.

Certainly, the federal government has given financial support to the Common Core effort, but this initiative was conceived and developed by states working toward a common goal, not common curricula. And despite the argument that the new tests would lower standards,
there is nothing to prevent districts, schools or individual teachers from striving for higher goals.

The decision appears to widen a rift between Scott and former Gov. Jeb Bush. On Tuesday, Scott praised Bush for his work to raise standards, but
Bush has been a strong supporter of PARCC and Common Core. Two members of the state Board of Education, each of whom was chief of staff under Bush, have criticized Scott over his lack of leadership on Common Core.

As Scott gears up for a tough re-election campaign, some say his best hope is to shore up his support on the far right. It would be a shame if he is doing this at the expense of Florida’s students.[/b]

If you suppor common core you either are doing so out of partisan politics or you just don't care about the dumbing down of our children. You better do look up how they are teaching fuzzy guessing math.

How would a navigator help you navigate without knowing your income, medical history, family history... etc.

pkr, I posted a link earlier on another thread regarding the roel of the 'navigators' but with this storm coming at us I got things to do if ya know what I mean . . . . look it up on a search cuz there is abundant factual information that debunks the myths surrounding the navigator issues . . . it is not even a novel or unique method when rolling out a big program to assist our citizens to navigate and/or understand their options and how to enroll if that is their desire. Good day . . . . going to work dude.
