They didn't get the democrats or Obama to backup from any of their threats, demands, insults.

Eight hundred thousand people are out of jobs for the moment.

No matter how the right tries to spin it, the voters of
America know it wasn't the democrats who picked this fight.

Speaking of which, if you know your opponent is a better, stronger fighter who will surely beat you up, picking the fight is stupid.

When it comes to being tough and stupid, you can't beat republicans!

My day went fine without those 800,000 employed and I expect it'll be the same tomorrow and the day after that... and the day after that... and the...

Suppose they can take a hint from Seaoat and find a second job or a new one.

If the average yearly income of these employees was $50,000 that's $40 billion a year in cost savings and 800,000 new workers for the private sector that can do the work those illegal immigrants won't do if the they never get put back on the government payroll.

If they all have to get two jobs in the private sector to make ends meet that's a lot of work that'll get done to pay the revenues to keep the rest of the government employed.

While we're at it and Seaoat had such great advice about getting a second job...

I think every government employee should be put on the military pay scale.

I'ma bettin' that would save us countless billions of dollars every year. Perhaps even enough to make a significant dent in the national debt given a little time.

Of course if the government employees don't like the pay they are free to seek employment in the private sector or they can take Seaoats advice and get a second job because...

NEW YORK – Just after Labor Day, the Bureau of Labor statistics reported more than 90 million Americans age 16 and older were not in the labor force in August, the highest level recorded since the Department of Labor began collecting the data during the Truman administration three years after the end of World War II.

On Friday, the BLS reported that the 90,473,000 Americans not currently in the labor force marked the first time the figure exceeded the 90 million threshold.

In January 2009, when President Obama first took office, there were 80.5 million Americans 16 years and older not in the labor force, meaning the number of Americans not in the labor force has increased 10 million during his presidency.

As for their payin' taxes or not that's what those thar revenuers are for. Now them thar revenuers don't need much more than E-4 to E-6 pay to check up on people who may or may not be payin' taxes.

Pkrbum just said that the average federal employee makes $100,000 a year. We need to get rid of about a million of these guys. That's a $100 billion cost savings for the government every year. A few more permanent layoffs and we'll have that up to $200 billion a year. Now we're talking some real cash savings by the gov'ment. Hell in five years that's a trillion dollars saved right thar' and at least two million new employees in the private sector who can do the work those illegal immigrants are unwilling to do.

He's not the only liberal around here suggesting people get a second job to pay for their glorious health care plan.

I heard today that some of our Congressmen are suggesting putting all government employees on the military pay scale. Good for them! No one said the government should pay well. As one of my old sergeants used to say... 'No one ever said you'd get rich working for the military'. I think that should hold true for government employees also then perhaps they wouldn't want to expand government as readily.

To answer your question,  I'm not sure the republicans have accomplished anything.   But I'm also not sure that's even relevant.  Because it really is starting to look like obamacare is going to be such a clusterfuck that it would have collapsed all on it's own demerits anyway.  lol

I think they've accomplished a lot.

They reopened the Mall around the White House today for starters.

I think they should leave another 1.2 million employees go also.

2 million X $80K a year = $160 billion in cost savings every year and 2 million new employees in the private sector to do the work that those illegal immigrants won't do.

I like cost savings and their being out of a job hasn't affected me... Unless they want to sweep my sidewalk and clean the windows at my store. I'll pay them the same I do my kids for doing it and expect at least as good of a job because I won't take any backtalk from someone who's not family. I do need some good cheap laborers.

The Republican Party has been hijacked by 100 or less major donors who have an agenda to destroy regulation in America, and have fueled the hate and bigotry of the Dixiecrats who have attempted to hijack primaries with a block vote which makes traditional Republicans who once shared a dream of efficient government with anarchist who want government destroyed and the American people rendered into indentured servants of the special interests.

I have never voted for a Democrat for President in my life, but if Christy gets steamrolled by corporate dollars and manipulation by the 100, I will for the first time in my life consider a democratic candidate because these folks have become traitors to this nation.
