About 12 years ago the County decided to repave the street in front of my house.  They screwed it up and my yard started to flood with almost every rain. It is a long story that starts with Mike Bass and has not ended yet.
A couple of years ago the put in sidewalks.  That will will be great, so I thought.  I meet with all the Planning dudes and dudettes and we talked and talked.  I showed them where I thought the side walk prints had some elevation issues.  OH NO!!!  We got ya covered. Bull shit!!!  Worse than before!!!
Now think about all the fucked up projects, concerts, and ball parks we have had in the last 10 years.  Each one has promised me that I would have a better "quality" of life.  Things will be better.  Downtown improvements will trickle down and solve our problems.  Drunkfest on the beach will bring in a jillion dollars and then we can fix your issues.  The damn streets still flood.  I pay more damn taxes for nothing than I ever have.
Sad part is that no matter how much I jump and scream, they are incompetent to fix a simple flooding issue.  I mean Damn it!!!
Maybe I need to go a base ball game an chill out.  Maybe eat a double Battleship sandwich.  Damn Escambia co...

Is this flood pics from recent? are you having that now?

Maybe it's time for some legal action. What about your neighbors, Ichi San? Are they experiencing flooding to the extent you are?

I hope it didn't get into your main house. Ugh. Flood insurance, yes?

Ichi san, has your house flooded?

I think PB is right.  Take some legal action.  Fight the bastards!

My House is off grade so i dont have a flooding issue with the house. I am not going to live here but a couple of more years. I doubt if I could sell it for any thing unless I can get Marle to list it as "Occasional Water front" I am seriously thinking of taking down the house and garage and making a empty lot.

This situation is not good at all if it will hurt your re-sale  value.  If you take down the house and garage, would you sell the lot?

Also....are you planning to move out of Pensacola or just move within town?

I own part of another house with my ex wife. We are going set up house again. It is close to Blue Angel and 98 so i will still be on the west side. I have always held on to this house as a safety net for my children. In case of a worse case situation they would always have a place to live. All is Good. Time to go clean up the mess(again)

Good to know!  Maybe this will be a safer area of town than where you live now.

Lake Charles LA. When I lived there I had similar problem I went to the city maintenance dept and ask if they could fix it 2 weeks later they tore up 15 feet of sidewalk and installed drains into the culverts running off my property. I paid $68 a year property taxes and I had free trash pickup including old appliances and junk. They were prompt friendly and far better organized than Pcola. It can be done right even in a poor town in Louisiana.

You pay taxes....take that video and show it to every county official you can find. The county needs to provide adequate drainage for your area.

So sorry you have to deal with because of a normal down pour...

Good idea, Teto. After it's posted take a copy to WEAR and give them a list the county officials that have been notified.

This is the first video I have that I was able to load to You Tube. I will show it first to those I have spoken with and then if no action maybe we can see if we could make it go viral. Thanks to all of you.

No.  Maybe I should look into it but I suspect getting any positive action   might be like trying to catch a greased pig.

where exactly is your house located?

I believe it is on the other side of navy point as I am very familiar with the area.

I ask because I have decided to purchase a house their to retire in.

You can PM with me with details.

I want Navy point area, but not way over in the one area that is really bad.

or has the whole area gotten bad since I left?

Was it in a flood plain when you bought the property? If it was, you'll have a tough roe to hoe.

Tallahassee/Leon County has been fairly good about buying and razing houses which flooded in spite of being built according to the then code. They have also improved drainage so the water more easily drains. We've had some real fiascos. Some are ones old timers in the trade like myself knew were going to flood...AGAIN when we had a really wet season...and they did.

Here, houses in mild flood plains were easy to sell during the run up in prices. Now they're almost impossible to sell unless there is a BIG discount. I listed a townhouse in a mild flood plain and it has really been a challenge. It, and the unit it is attached to and those on that side of a cul-de-sac never flooded even though the units across the street did. The county bought those units, razed them and added several, much larger culverts under a railroad track blocking the water. Flood insurance on the $85,000 property is $100.00 a month. That's a lot with interest rates so low.

I really sympathize with you regarding flooding. It is a nightmare to watch the water creeping closer and closer and there being nothing you can do.

Thanks for the post Mr Markle. I dont think(I should know) that I am in a flood plain. I bought this house in 72 and really never had any issues until they first repaved the street in front of the house. I would guess that was about 20 years ago. At first it was not very bad but over the years the situation has deteriorated into what you see in the video. On the positive side is that I paid very little for the house and it has served me well. I was able to retire my note some years ago.
It has been a struggle dealing with Escambia co over the years. I thought I had my anger issues on the flooding pretty well contained. I dont. So I need to rethink my options.
Life is too short to let situations like this adversely affect my life. But I am human. LOL And Damn I really go into a rage when I see the water crossing the road and filling up my shop.
But today it aint raining, so that is a good thing....
