UK’s National Health Service Going Broke, British Docs Say It’s Worse Than Communist China

As the U.S. government takes its first faltering steps to implement Obamacare, doctors in Britain are complaining that their country’s £5.6 billion publicly funded National Health Service (NHS) is “worse than Communist China.”
Physicians attending the British Medical Association’s annual conference in Edinburgh said they were fed-up with NHS bureaucrats overriding their medical decisions, “bullying” doctors, and putting money concerns before patient care, according to a June 25 story in the UK Telegraph.

“Not even in Communist China did they have managers overruling doctors in the operation of hospitals and health services,” Dr. Peter Holden, a member of the BMA, is quoted as saying.

But even though British physicians say that NHS bureaucrats are compromising patient care to save money, the government-run healthcare system is about to run out of funds, the Telegraph reported July 5th.

And by 2020, the largest single-payer healthcare system in the world will be running a deficit six times larger than its annual operating budget, forcing the closure of up to 20 percent of Britain’s hospitals, which are already inundated with patients seeking free care.

A recent Telegraph investigation found “ambulance patients waiting up to eight hours” to be transferred to emergency rooms, adding that “the numbers forced to wait at least two hours outside A&Es (Accident & Emergency Centers) “has risen by two thirds in just one year.”

Not all NHS employees are feeling the pinch. A recent contract gives senior hospital staff a 28 percent pay raise while allowing them to refuse to work evenings and weekends, the Telegraph reported.

Eventually they run out of other people's money to spend.

This beloved Single Payer System of President Barack Hussein Obama and his comrades has been in sharp decline for many years just as is the Canadian system.

The NHS even has what they call a "Liverpool Path" which is for patients, someone in government has decided, is no longer worth spending money on keeping alive. Sometimes the family is not even told that their loved one has been placed on this "path".

The budding ObamaCare Death Panels.

What's happening in Great Britain:

"Physicians attending the British Medical Association’s annual conference in Edinburgh said they were fed-up with NHS bureaucrats overriding their medical decisions, “bullying” doctors, and putting money concerns before patient care, according to a June 25 story in the UK Telegraph."

Paragraph rewritten from an American perspective:

"Physicians and patients say they are fed up with private insurance bureaucrats overriding their medical decisions, bullying doctors, patients and hospitals, and putting money concerns before patient care," according to  a July 11 post on the PDF forum.

Why does PBulldog2 have to lie? Because he has nothing.

There are no "insurance bureaucrats".  They are GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRATS, part of the National Health Service (NHS).  The NHS has also developed the Liverpool Path which, knowingly or UNKNOWLING put older patients on a path to death by withholding live saving drugs and care.  Frequently the patients OWN FAMILY has no idea what has happened to their loved one.

You silly man. I have plenty, as you well know. Laughing

Read the post again. It was a spoof. I wrote it as if the situation were occurring in the United States - you know, the "from an American perspective" bit. I suppose I should have been more clear. Rolling Eyes I accept the responsibility for my lack of clarity.

My point was the same thing is happening in the United States, under different circumstances.

You wrote, "Frequently the patients OWN FAMILY has no idea what has happened to their loved one."

What do you mean? Does a covert NHS team, like, lose the body or something? Throw the bodies in the Thames at midnight, perhaps?

Clarify, please. If you are correct, I'm going to notify the Guardian pronto. British citizens deserve to know. Then I'm on the next plan to Hong Kong.

you cant compare private insurance with gov runned insurance.

you can purchase your private insurance, and you will receive the services you pay for. Meaning if you want cadilac private insurance that does everything, youll be paying for it. Let me repeat, YOU will be paying for it, but you will have coverage.

gov run, People WHO WORK and PAY TAXES will be paying for your limited services.

As we all know, beggars are not choosy. Hence our current situation expands to the point to where this bubble will pop too.

Im amazed that this country can go down the tubes as fast as it is. Its like someone flip on the flush it switch.

I read endocrine cancer blogs from all over the world. Steve Jobs and I had a very rare cancer and the blogs have people from all over the world giving information about the newest treatment and the care they are getting. One common denominator with endocrine cancer which has an emblem of a ZEBRA because it is camouflaged and all across the world people complain how doctors have failed to diagnose. However, once the disease is identified, people in Britain and Canada have much better stories about treatments and coverage of the expenses. It is really sad to see all these stories about how doctors or insurance companies are unhappy, yet when you talk to the people on the blogs........it is abundantly clear in the treatment of endocrine cancer, people in Britain and Canada are getting the best care without bankrupting them. I am lucky. MY insurance company is paying for both my shots. Some people in America have insurance companies which will not pay for the second shot, or they are over 65 and medicare will only pay for one shot. The brits and canadians are getting both shots completely paid. I think Mr. Markle is right that there are some bitches and some areas where our system shines.........but he consistently overstates how ineffective the british and Canadian systems are. I have given this example. In Canada both of my shots cost 5,800, and at NW hospital they are 22,000. When an insurance company refuses to pay the second shot, people simply die.....so please do not tell me about future death panels.....they are here today....they have always been here.........a single payer system is the only answer, but like our current system......it will not be perfect.

Just checked youtube and it has a comical that was made named Damaged Care, but that wasn't what I was talking about. The one I was talking about was based on true stories of how one insurance company decided basically whether you would live or die.  In fact a policeman down in central Florida won a hugh lawsuit against them in the 90's for denying his child a needed surgery.

It looks like Markle's arguments have been thoroughly deconstructed again. Why doesn't he just leave this subject alone?

stop confusing care with cost. its two different subjects. im sick to death of you and your high and mighty im dying stories you know it all because your sick. tuff shit. lots of us are sick or have had relatives die during our little ventures here. health care is NOT your profession.

and again, because we all know how you complain about paying that $22000 a month to get your shots. well guess what. do you think a gov run single payer system is gonna give people shots like that? get a fucking clue.

and go and talk to all the people with cancer who are already seeing their care suffer because of cuts.

or maybe all of you can move to fucking Canada, you know the god damn health system you REALLY don't know a fucking thing about either.

Or maybe some of us do know what it is about and talk to folks online from other countries........but certainly you are making your living in this broken system, and I would be just as defensive as you have been about the real situations we deal with..........or your desire to keep the status quo where billions of profit are made by insurance companies which provides no care for those dollars. An insurance based unitary single payer system is not socialism......it is a simple annuity where the costs of care must be assessed under actuarial tables. Once this broken system is taken off the back of our employers, we will gain our competitive advantage in manufacturing. We all are going to die.......on my journey I am getting knowledge about our health care system.......sorry.....not gone yet.

lol... you must think healthcare is magic or sumthin. It's simply an exchange... and there hasn't been a true free market system for a long time. You can't blame real capitalism for what it has become... blame your fucking govt solutions.

Gee... I wonder what will happen when this fascist boondoggle busts?

Absolutely correct.

For years I have tried to explain to them it was gov interference that created the out of control never ending cycle that caused all the prices to continually rise. And we've seen it again on a bigger scale since obamacare.

I don't now what reality some of these people live in but its not a earthly one.

You got seaoat complaining how a country of 30 mil can offer shots at a lower rate, and he must think we can offer that too. Hell we have more people on gov ins than Canada has people.

Then some people want medicare for all. LOL and again LOL That's right we are going to put 300 million plus people on medicare for all, then we are going to let them have cadilac like insurance plans to cover $22,000 a month shots LOL and again LOL because we are so rich of a country after all. LOL

Then lets talk about those surpluses that some have been bragging about on here. because we all know if wallstreet is doing good, the country must be too right? LOL and again LOL because all that bond buying which is nothing but the federal reserve loaning the white house cash. LOL and roll eyes here.

then what, even if we could afford medicare for all that provided calilac coverage LOL.... who will monitor that? private ins companies? Or more gov wmployess who also have cadilac pension plans, again LOL and LOL because we are so rich we can afford all this.

NO. Our country has been takin over by a bunch of American hating selfish dumbasses playing our emotions and sympathies in order to gain more power over us. This is plain as day, but not to the masses it appears.

So Pkr, you hit the nail on the head once again and did it with few words. Kudos to you.

oh and seaoat, I can assure you I talk to people all over the world all the time, every day. But I don't have to talk to people all over the world to know about the Canadian system. I get to occasionally deal with them as some Canadians like to vacation down here and get healthcare while they are here so I get to request material from Canada and talk to them. not only that, my daughter married into a Canadian family and all I have to do is ask. because they still have all their relatives in Canada and visit often. That's 1st hand knowledge from real people face to face.

and guess what else seaoat. yes we are all dying. anyone of us could croak at anytime. so stop playing the im dying card on all of us. because two things you refuse to acknowledge. this healthcare system has kept your ass alive. Now you either are happy with this system because of that and you a god damn lying troll like I suspect or you would have gone out of the country to save your life. because no one pays $22,000 a month for shots unless they really want to stay alive.
