The amphitheater has hosted few concerts since opening in the spring of 2012.
“We’ve used it for weddings, change of commands,” Carmody said. “The Pensacola Opera was there recently. We’ve had various fundraisers there.”
But few concerts, outside of the Charlie Daniels Band performing in November, have been held at the site.
Still, the few groups that used it said it’s a beautiful venue.
“We thought it was great,” said Amanda Cook, education director for the Pensacola Opera, which held a performance of “The Billy Goats Gruff” at the amphitheater in April. The wind was an issue, and we would get wind sounds through our open mics. But everyone, including the people who came out to watch, seemed to enjoy it.”
Enjoy! Not sure how free concerts are going to help reduce that 97 million service debt but we'll have to wait and see.
