Apparently so ...

Five hundred days since letting the Violence Against Women Act expire, House Republicans finally caved today and voted to reauthorize the bill, which was first passed in 1994 to help victims of rape and domestic violence find safety, care and justice. VAWA passed the House today with a vote of 286-138 (with the 138 against being all Republican), and President Obama is expected to sign it once it gets to his desk. Republicans aren't too happy about this turn of events, but their ongoing resistance to this popular legislation was starting to make them look like monsters, so they didn't have much of a choice.

Well, they can't be accused of pandering to women.

I don't know how anybody can vote republican. They just don't care about anybody but themselves.

Anyone who votes Republican, with the exception of rich white men, is a sucker.

I hope that will change. I hope common sense will return to the party. Christy gets rejected because he puts the people of his state first. Over the last three years there are few conservative governors who have achieved more reductions in state budgets than Christy......yet when he tells the truth after Sandy to protect the people he was elected to protect.....the crazies throw him under the bus. I could vote for Christy in a NY second. He is intelligent, fair, and right most of the time. The Rush Limbaughs who make a buck peddling crap, and keeping this country polarized need to feel the economic force of people simply turning him off. I listened to him in the 90s because he made some sense.....he is a fricking lunatic, and the lunatics did not invite Christy........No moderate Republicans are going to take the party back and the middle will be found once again.

Good luck with that.

The GOP is very close to imploding as a national party.

Boehner is a disaster and the knives are out for him now.

If he loses his speakership, the whole thing comes apart at the seams.

There's no place in the GOP for the center-right, and a new party may have to come in to fill that void.

I have began calling and writing congressmen. I first give them my name and they can see I have been a life long Republican. I tell them I am tired of Americans getting hurt because of the special interests. I am having some good discussions. I think the good guys are going to win this battle. I have been called a RINO by folks who used to be Democrats 25 years ago......and I am so tired of explaining that real republicans are moderates who want common sense fiscal policy and a pro business environment which means a level playing field without perks for those who pay the most. It also means environmentalist as conservatives, and it means treating all people equally despite their race or religion. That is my Republican Party....the Party of Teddy Roosevelt, Abe Lincoln, Ike, Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan.......all of them would be considered socialist in this current nut case environment....we will take our party back.

You are battling an inferno that has not only consumed your home, but much of the neighborhood surrounding it, with a squirt gun.

You'd be better served to move away and start over.

I am going to be dead....so I am sticking to my guns. I ran for office as a Republican over three counties. I enjoyed getting up and shocking folks telling the truth. At one candidate forum, I said the best candidate was the eventual winner in the race, and a friend. People chewed my asz out that was not the way to run a campaign......the truth was I had a different perspective, I had different ideas, but the best candidate for the job won. If you want a job so bad that you sell your soul......then you are the loser. I have lived my life believing that American freedom, fiscal conservative policy, fair and level playing fields in business, and equal opportunity for all.........After the campaign I never ran for office again.......people asked me to, but I will go to my grave with a pure heart, and I have helped people my entire life. My work with children setting up sports programs over two counties and doing this without government agencies and making a difference in kids lives was important. It had no party label. It had everything to do with making my community stronger, and making those who lived there have a better quality of life.....no the Republican Party is not dead.....the real Republicans will take our party back......Americans have common sense, and the pendulum will swing back to the middle. I know people get mad from both extremes when I proudly say I am a Republican.....no regrets, and good things will come from Republicans in the future....we just need to get the pretenders and dumb azzes out of the way.

Well, I'll be damned.

By your definition, I'm a Republican.
