Pentagon: U.S. Navy Carrier Fleet Cut To One In Gulf
http://www.defensenews.com/article/20130206/DEFREG02/302060020/Pentagon-U-S-Navy-Carrier-Fleet-Cut-One-Gulf

Guess what? The Navy can't afford to keep a large fleet off the Iranian coast anymore, so it is cutting aircraft carriers from 2 to just 1. The pending budget sequestration cuts are starting to have an effect.

This news has to have the Pro-Iran-War folks shaking in their boots. The facts are, the U.S. just cannot afford another war right now.

I am sure when SECDEF Hagel finally takes the helm at the Pentagon, he will do his best to put the hair-brained attack on Iran in the deep-freeze, where it belongs. The Israelis won't like this, but too bad for them.... They don't call the shots for our foreign policy.

That last part works both ways. Remember that next time the Israeli's do something like bomb/invade the Gaza Strip or surround Cairo after they've been attacked.

Yep, Zvug and crew are the Neville Chamberlain's of our time. Israel will just ramp up their ops to make up for what we're not doing or able to do.

So be it. Let Israel take care of their own business and stop using our forces as their swat unit.

Works for me.

we will just have to see what happens after the congress actually passes a budget, still waiting on that to happen.

Yes. Maybe the GOP will stop being obstructionists, but I'm not counting on it. LOL

Just like they whine and moan about any new gun laws while blocking the appointment of the Head of ATF. We just need to enforce existing laws they bellow, while keeping the agency in a situation that should be untenable. Especially in light of the current focus on so-called assault weapons.

Pretty outrageous. Like underfunding Embassy security and making it a cause celebre in the same breath.

Don't you be-a-holdin-your breath.

A budget will get passed when the Dems continue to no longer load it with additional spending that they have not budgeted for, decide to actually CUT something of substance like entitlements, and not go beyond the current debt limit. What is so hard about that?

But the house has passed 2 budgets the Democratic controlled senate is the one being obstructionist.

Again who controls the Senate (which is the house that approves the appointments). And this is not preventing the enforcement, especially in the states, nor the federal government from prosecuting the violators of said laws when caught.

The underfunding (or not giving them all the funding that they wanted) is such a small portion that they are denying when you consider how many embassies that they actually spread it out to. 300 million for all embassy security out of 2.15 billion. The way state funding works is you ask for way more then you need because you know you will not get it all.

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/02/in-washington-the-only-smart-budge-cut-is-a-fake-budget-cut.php

Consider the $37.8 billion in “cuts” agreed to in 2011, proclaimed by President Obama as “the largest annual spending cut in our history.” The Post finds that package to be “an epic kind of Washington illusion, stuffed with gimmicks that made the cuts seem far bigger — and the politicians far bolder — than they actually were.”

For example, the Transportation Department took credit for “cutting” a $280 million tunnel that had been cancelled six months earlier and a $375,000 road project that had been created due to a typo on a road that didn’t exist.

Meanwhile, the Census Department took a $6 billion “cut” for not conducting the 2010 census in 2011. And Congress agreed, in the spirit of shared sacrifice, to “cut” $14.6 million by not spending money on a visitors center that had already been built.

And would have given the United States no right to tell Israel to pull back instead of leveling Cairo and keeping it when they could have.

As I said. Be careful what you wish for.

Yep, Israel has never asked us to do anything. They are more than willing to tote their own wood.

That is a crock of BS.....If they are "Toting their own wood" as you say, they would be doing it without $6 billion in annual subsidies from the U.S. taxpayer, along with $billions more in special appropriations each year. Congress just can't seem to give enough moolah to the Zionist state.

So that means you're willing to cut off all aid/subsidies to the surrounding Arab countries also.

That works for me.

Wow, been hitting the "I hate Israel Bong" tonight obviously. How much more anti-semitic can you be with your words? Did we participate in the raid for Israel last week? Did we hit that Syrian reactor in 2006? Did we fight in the most recent war with Hezbollah in Lebanon? Were we the ones who took out Iraq's nuke reactor at Osirk? NO, NO, and NO. They "toted their own wood."

And yet Obama and members of Congress have been extremely lucky in one sense. The last few years has been a good time to be in charge of fiscal policy, thanks to ultra-low interest rates which mean an ultra-low cost of financing the federal government’s borrowing.

That will end in the next several years. The Congressional Budget Office, in its annual budget forecast last week, projected that what the federal government must spend on net interest payments will more than double in the next five years and will nearly quadruple by the end of the 10-year budget forecasting period. Instead of spending six cents of every dollar to pay interest on the debt, the government will be spending 14 cents of every dollar on interest payments in 2023.

By 2020 the government will be spending more on interest than it will spend on national defense.

Why are you such a dope? Every jet in their air force was subsidized by the American taxpayer. They wouldn't be toting any wood without U.S. $$.

Yes we should cut off all foreign aid to both the Arabs and the Zionists. I'll vote for the first politician who champions this.
