Outside of the South and Appalachia, Romney actually did worse with whites than George W. Bush.

But within the South and Appalachia, things got ugly.

Obama did very well in heavily white states like New Hampshire, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

He significantly outperformed Gore and Kerry in white states like Vermont, North Dakota, and Montana.

Obama didn't really have a problem with whites in most of the battleground states.

There's just something about this particular President that these rednecks and hillbillies in the South and Appalachia don't cotton to.

Any theories?

And, the Republican Party is doomed.

It is not race alone that sets these white Romney voters apart from the white voters in swing states who voted for Obama. It is the educational level of the voter. That's what's taking a block of white voters away from the R's.

Also, re polling results and data crunching, I hear that the R's models didn't account for the reduction of living white voters by 2% every election cycle when they were doing their calculations on the election outcome.

They need to face reality instead of listening to their own press releases and the noise inside their self-made echo chamber. It may sound good to them but the voters have a way of injecting reality. The loss of this election didn't have to be such a shock to the conservative system but they chose to go with what felt good rather than the reality on the ground. Now there is gnashing of teeth and rending of garments.

Question is, are they going to learn from this or double down?
