Roberts is a good supreme court justice. He was appointed by a Republican, and he mostly votes consistently with the conservative block, but he has integrity and votes consistently with the constitution. Earl Warren was a Republican governor appointed by IKe, and he presided over the most liberal supreme court in history. I think legal brilliance should be the threshold, and not some predetermined political wish list which does not always pan out.

I do not like obstructionist in regard to Supreme Court Justices. If someone is not qualified or has specific issues, but the idea of not letting a president appoint a Supreme Court appointee is wrong regardless of which side of the aisle proposes the same. The Republicans were wrong to delay a nomination to replace Scalia over a year. Two wrongs do not make a right.

A cute opinion piece from Alternet, the far left Progressive site financed by the illustrious George Soros.

Republicans blocked no one from the Supreme Court. Lame Duck President Barack Hussein Obama nominated two far-left nominees who were confirmed by those rascally Republicans.

As we were repeatedly told when President Obama made his radical Progressive appointments, elections have consequences.

This vacancy will be filled by a Constitutionalist and, with any luck at all, Socialist Ruth Bader Ginsberg will be the next justice replaced. That will be another reason for celebration and dancing in the streets!

I only have one problem among the eight current justices. I do not believe justice Thomas was ever qualified, and his lack of participation in the process, and his wife's lobbying really have raised ethical questions for me. All the other justices are legal scholars and I do not have a problem with their bent as long as they understand the constitution and court precedent. I would have preferred Hillary winning and making the appointments, but the changes in America in the last eight years in regard to equal protection and same sex marriage was very quick. I always thought it would take a generation, but the decision are correct, but it is social change which makes people angry at the Supreme Court which they perceive as a political device for change. It is not. It should be above politics and it should be legal scholars interpreting our constitution. I have not heard one person say that the people Trump said he would appoint was unqualified. I try to look at the quality of the intellect, and their actual written decisions to make my opinion about a judge.

My concerns about Thomas is the lack of oral participation and the few written opinions he has made since being on the court. He was a rubber stamp for Scalia who was brilliant, and has shown no initiative, nor one written decision in a concurrence or majority opinion which has distinguished him. If that is being racist, then I am guilty of the same. In the last seventy years it would be hard pressed to find a less productive justice in Supreme Court History. Couple that with his wife being an active lobbyist, and yes.......I cannot wait to he decides to retire.

You never once questioned his birthplace. You never once objected to such threads. Your omission speaks volumes for your views. I, however, consistently identified such racial based attacks for what they are and continue to be, yet when a Supreme Court Justice has never participated in Oral arguments in almost a decade and a half which is unprecedented, and you think pointing the same out is racism, that also speaks volumes for your racial views.

Justice Thomas is the weakest Supreme Court Justice in 50 years. You cannot find anybody who has not participated in oral arguments over there tenure in the history of the court......I mean objective real facts are not being born in Kenya and saying nothing......The very fact that you try to create a straw man to justify the attacks against President Obama which were racial, only confirms what I have been saying.
