Trump Nominates Zionist Extremist for Israel Ambassador

Dude makes Bibi look like a liberal squish.

By Israeli standards, Donald Trump’s designated Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, is an extreme right-winger. He might find a place in the settler movement or with Naftali Bennett’s Habayit Hayehudi Party, but only on its right-wing fringes. He makes Benjamin Netanyahu seem like a left-wing defeatist. From where Friedman stands, most Israelis, never mind most American Jews, are more or less traitors.

Friedman helped advise Trump during the campaign and has assisted him in bankruptcy proceedings in the past. He is a supporter of Israeli settlement construction, has downplayed the need for a Palestinian state, and is considered a key force behind the incoming president's relatively hard-line pro-Israel positions, including supporting moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Like Trump, Friedman is an admirer of Vladimir Putin, and has portrayed the Russian president as fighting Islamic State in Syria despite little of the Russian war effort being focused on Isis. "Vladimir Putin gets it," Friedman wrote in November last year. "He may be a 'thug,' as he was recently described by Senator [Marco] Rubio, but he knows how to identify a national objective, execute a military plan, and ultimately prevail."

Friedman -- OMG.  Just when I think the daily news from Trump Tower can't get any worse.   I'm almost afraid to look at/listen to the news any more, it's so depressing.  

Gotta wonder how much Kushner had to do with the pick.  It's absolutely horrifying.
