Our government told us the war on Iraq was absolutely necessary. Meanwhile, we're fighting alleged enemies in several other countries, including Somalia, Syria, Libya, and Yemen. Your government didn't ask your approval for any of these efforts, none of which have brought any positive results for the USA or the world.
Your government does and does not believe in human endeavors being a cause or even partial cause of global warming. They're beating up on coal producers, and supporting new oil fields and fracking. The President tells us one day that Global Warming is a real threat. Then he signs off on opening new undersea drilling.
We pay more for healthcare per capita than any other industrialized nation and for quality, we rank 37th. We pay more for education per student than any two nations combined in the world, yet our students rank near the bottom in literacy, math skills, science knowledge, etc.
Obama told us his new healthcare programs would better our access to health care while reducing costs. But as it was designed, healthcare institutions would not be permitted to negotiate competitive drug costs, and health insurers would not be prevented from maximizing their charges. In other words, you and me got fucked. Again.
Veterans who were enticed into rejoining for active duty by hefty re-enlistment bonuses, were scammed. Veterans who were promised good and practical healthcare after they left active duty, were scammed.
Our borders remain open doors for illegals to enter our country, despite the government telling us our security is much improved. And while our government tells us they investigate and prosecute major companies that hire illegal workers, food processors like Tyson continue to staff their lines with illegals, with impunity.
While our taxes continue to rise, our roads, bridges, tunnels, dams and railroads are crumbling.
Cheney made millions from his Haliburton shares. The Clintons are billionaires. Our congressional representatives are puppets of huge campaign financers.
Our legal system no longer works.
The bees we rely upon to propagate our largest crops are dying and we know who is responsible -- but Monsanto and DuPont buy off legislators so there profits from deadly pesticides continue to flow. And we're told to believe that the EPA is doing its job.
The political party who screams they want less government and governmental intrusion into our daily lives, wants to outlaw abortion and prosecute women who get them as murderers.
Every week TV hits us hard with another story about another unarmed suspect shot down by angry cops -- the same cops we're told who risk their lives daily in their efforts to protect and serve us all.
We're told our drinking water is perfectly safe.
Nazis, and Skinheads, and White Supremacists and KKK members are protected by law and have the protection of our legal system to advocate their hatred. But Syrian refugees desperate to escape the insane conflict of their country-gone-mad, are too dangerous for us to admit.
We're being told the best solution to the ever-increasing Social Security budget is to raise the age when benefits start, so that most of us will die in poverty before we get retirement checks.
We're being told -- even by elected officials of our government -- that fossil fuels are good for America.
And we're being told by the NRA that the answer to mass school shootings is to arm our children.
The Pentagon hasn't the foggiest idea where all the money they spend is going. But we're told they need MORE. Always.
And we're told that it's vital we don't allow other countries to develop the nuclear weapons we refuse to do away with.
We're told to ignore the vulgar crimes of a sexual abuser, in order to benefit from his powers as a successful businessman. And we're told that despite the fact she's a liar, a corporate lackey, and a woman whose deal-making while in public office has made her a billionaire, we can trust her to improve our daily lives.
So who do you trust?
