She did the same for 700k

As we reported on Monday, Hillary and Bill Clinton have used America's labyrinthine tex code minimize their exposure to Federal taxes including shell companies in Delaware, and avoidance schemes to minimize estate taxes. Now, we're learning that Hillary used a similar method of avoiding federal taxes in 2015 that Donald Trump did in 1995.
According to Hillary's tax returns--which she's published on her website--the Democratic nominee reported close to $700,000 in long-term capital losses in 2015:

Right wing says 'Hillary did it, too' on taxes—she didn't

Donald Trump's tax problem is a problem for his right-wing apologists, too. On the one hand, they have to say he's a "genius" for working the system and getting out of paying taxes. On the other hand, they have to normalize it. As Media Matters reports, the obvious way to do that is to say "she did it too."

Last night, Reddit commenter "TheGoldenDon" claimed on the pro-Trump Reddit page "The_Donald" that "Hillary Clinton recorded a $700k loss to avoid paying taxes in 2015." The post included an image from the Clintons' return which shows that the Clintons had a net long-term capital loss of $699,540 carried over from a prior tax year. The image was picked up by the conservative blog Zero Hedge, which stated that the returns show that Hillary Clinton "Used Same Tax Avoidance 'Scheme' As Trump."

The claim rocketed through the conservative media and has been repeatedly cited on this morning's Fox & Friends, where co-host Ainsley Earhardt claimed that the "$700,000 loss" shows that "Hillary did the same thing" as Trump.
You can watch the crack Fox & Friends pretending like they know shit about taxes below. From the cesspool of the Reddit Trump pages to Fox, in record time. And with that origin point and trajectory, you have to know that it's not true. Media Matters has the entire return, not just the snippet that the Trumpists are sharing, that the capital loss of $700,000 from the previous year allowed them just a $3,000 deduction, a deduction they've taken since that loss in 2008. But guess what? They paid $3,236,975 in federal income tax in 2015. And their tax records since 2001 show that they've paid an effective federal tax rate of between 25 percent and 38.2 percent every year.

So there's a very big difference, in that Hillary Clinton actually paid her taxes. The $3,000 deduction didn't make much of a dent in that $3.2 million tax bill. You know what the other difference between Hillary and Donald is? Even the dumb shits on the Reddit page could find the Clinton's tax returns. Because they've released them all.

You have to be some kind of stupid to think that LONG term capital losses which are by law limited each year to the loss carryover compare to the game Trump was able to play with the special legislation lobbied for by the real estate industry. First, when a bank forgives a portion of a loan that forgiven part becomes income, now that forgiven portion of the loan can only be discharged as income with a bankruptcy. Trump did not file a personal bankruptcy, rather he took the huge real estate loss in the casinos and offset all the forgiven loans, but worse.....because Trump is in the real estate industry and actively manages real estate, that loss is not handled like a long term capital gain loss, rather the loss can be extinguished against profits from real estate until the loss is used up.

Hillary Clinton taking a 700k hit on her stocks held over a year allows a carry over of long term capital gains losses which is limited to 3k a year which means she did not defer passive income beyond the 3k a year. About 50% of Americans suffered long term capital gain losses which they took the same 3k deduction, but for Fox News to play this as equivalent to stupid people is just too funny........Donald Trump is a fraud. The worse part of his fraud was that he took those diminished assets after taking the loss, and created a public corporation, and issued stocks to the general public where the stock values went from 17 bucks to 35 cents, all the while he took about 70 million out of the stockholder money and used those same losses not to pay a dime of taxes on the defrauded public who bought into his hype that he was golden.......the man is a scam artist, and this course of conduct will be part of his prosecution under the NY AG's fraud case against Trump in the operation of his Foundation........the ignorance of Fox News is amazing.....to not know the difference between ordinary long term capital losses and losses by real estate professionals is stunning.
