So why isn't Obama doing something aside from golfing with Baton Rouge and other parts submerged? It's obviously obamas fault just like it was the fault of Bush during Katrina.  Hell, Obama had more time to prepare as it took that storm a week to get to that location from Florida. Only a lying hypocrite says it's not the same. And if you disagree with me you're a racist.

Which flood should we pick....West Virginia.....Texas.....Louisiana......North Carolina......oh yea.....climate change and all that carbon pouring into the atmosphere had scientists telling us flooding would be far more serious......damn.....and to think Obama has wanted to cause more floods........

Now my recollection was that the Army Corps of Engineers screwed up in New Orleans, and President Bush congratulating Brownie for a good job done.....while people were dying at the Super Dome.......you are absolutely right...the President should go to all the funerals, and all the floods and not take a vacation because he does not have Brownie around taking care of things......by golly Pace, I think you have something.

Bush Diverted Levee-Building Funds to Iraq War, Tax Cuts

August 31, 2005 |

In early 2004, as the cost of the conflict in Iraq soared, President Bush proposed spending less than 20 percent of what the Corps said was needed for Lake Pontchartrain.

Repair and maintenance of the fortress-like system of levees around New Orleans has been a fact of life there for decades. The levees themselves are constantly sinking – in one report they sank four feet in about a year. But in 2003 – at the time President Bush cut the taxes of the wealthy (his “base”) while simultaneously launching the invasion of Iraq for no other reason than his personal whim, funding to rebuild the levees was reallocated:

[After] 2003, the flow of federal dollars toward SELA [Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project] dropped to a trickle. The [Army Corps of Engineeers] never tried to hide the fact that the spending pressures of the war in Iraq, as well as homeland security — coming at the same time as federal tax cuts — was the reason for the strain. At least nine articles in the Times-Picayune from 2004 and 2005 specifically cite the cost of Iraq as a reason for the lack of hurricane- and flood-control dollars.

As the situation in Iraq devolved into the slow-motion bloodbath we are experiencing today, the Bush Administration needed more money to feed the beast it had unleashed. As a result, even more funding was drained away from repairing the levees around New Orleans:

In early 2004, as the cost of the conflict in Iraq soared, President Bush proposed spending less than 20 percent of what the Corps said was needed for Lake Pontchartrain, according to a Feb. 16, 2004, article, in New Orleans CityBusiness.

Last summer, local officials recognized that the president’s decision had placed the city in jeopardy:

On June 8, 2004, Walter Maestri, emergency management chief for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana; told the Times-Picayune: “It appears that the money has been moved in the president’s budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that’s the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees can’t be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us.”

Your boy is just as guilty.... he spends billions on refugees that could be spent here on disabled vets and infrastructure....or even the 122% increase in the national debt under his watch

The situation is under control. 30,000 rescues to date have been made both by civilians and first responders. No one is waiting for food drops or emergency medical care while thousands are trapped in inhuman conditions in a facility with no power or running water. Bodies are not piling up in the streets.

To compare these two events and the government and private response to each is just crazy. The only thing that is the same is that they both happened in Louisiana and both involve water/flooding. Other than that, not so much.

Stock Markets at record highs.....job creation at record highs.........President Obamas popularity ratings continue to reach record highs......it must be tough to be getting all pumped up to get trampled in this election.

Even Rush is preparing his listeners for a big loss this November...seen on MSNBC this evening, clips of Rush's program. He will be around long after Trump takes his long vacation.

This is why the Armpit is such an exceptional place to live.
Two or three years ago, the Armpit got over 20 inches of rain in one day.
About twice as much as Baton Rouge. Resulting in a fraction of the flooding Baton Rouge is experiencing.

You just can't make these things up!

Contributing to the flooding are LEVIES WHICH HAVE BROKEN.

Progressives here CONVENIENTLY FORGET that it was illegal for President Bush to send in government troops until he received a formal request from Governor Blanco. She delayed for THREE DAYS making that request because she believed she could handle it herself.

As for New Orleans, Mayor Ray Nagin first waited too long to issue the evacuation order then made an utter disaster of the clean up. In one instance a company out of Texas offered to clear ALL the thousands of junk cars blocking the roads in New Orleans FOR FREE AND HAVE IT DONE IN THREE MONTHS.

The company had the equipment, the cranes, the portable crushers to crush the cars on site and the trucks to haul them away.

Mayor Ray Nagin REFUSED, opting instead to PAY LOCAL COMPANIES MILLIONS. Years later, the job was still not done.
