Democrats see chance to reshape map as Trump stumbles

"Trump has driven away a big chunk of voters that used to be solid Republican voters. That puts states in play that should not be in play," said Republican strategist Kevin Madden. "The electoral map was already hard to begin with, given the demographic shifts in battleground states likes Colorado and Virginia. Trump just made it harder by finding a way to be more unpopular and more unlikeable than the most unpopular and unlikeable Democratic nominee in modern history."

Trump can still win. The leads in all states in August mean almost nothing until October and after the debates.

The down ticket Senate races could give the Democrats the senate for the next six years, and possibly a Filibuster proof majority in January. This means that Hillary can put a very progressive Supreme Court Justice on the Court and there is nothing the Republicans are going to be able to do. There will be at least two liberal leaning justices retiring in the next four years and possibly Kennedy who is a swing vote. I am going to see a lot of 6-3 votes which used to go 5-4 the other way. Huge consequences not stopping Trump early.

How about huge consequences for Senator McConnell refusing to hold a vote on President Obama's nominee to replace Justice Scalia?

Absopositively. In retrospect this has the potential to be seen as one of the most idiotic Republican moves in history.
