Having studied Latin America as a graduate student 40 plus years ago, and having written a thesis on Latin American economic integration, I can only find this thread mind numbing stupid, for blaming the problems in Venezuela on socialism when it is obvious that their entire economy is tied to the price of oil. The people were raped economically by the oligarchy who simply took all the country's assets and owned over 90% of the land. The evolution of Chile, Argentina, and Brazil(who now has a larger GDP than Russia, has been the success of attacking the oligarchies control and improving wealth distribution which has amazing results where corrupt Oligarchies tried to protect their inefficient monopolies, their control of all the land, and worse.....when they took the capital from these countries, they did not reinvest the same in Latin America, and could very well own a condo in Miami. The changes for the average working stiff have been amazing over the last fifty years when our dirty hands quit propping up the oligarchy and our multinational corporations who raped these people economically. Sophomoric analysis growing from a lack of economic training.
