One of the few things I hate about living in the Panhandle is that we're so damned close to Georgia and Alabama. Scary as hell.

Understood. But you're anything but alone! And Jesus was supposed to be a kind, loving person with good will to all ... It's attempts to enact laws like this that remind me ALL FUNDAMENTALISTS ARE EVIL!!

Luckily... and no thanks to leftists... we are still free to move where we like in this country. The intent was that the states could implement laws that reflected the views of the populace to a large degree. If you don't find that acceptable... move to a state that more closely reflects your views. Radical... I know... and completely contrary to an authoritarian central govt of the few ruling roughshod over the huddled masses.

Hey Mobrule: Check the votes and the forum entries of late. It appears you and Markle, with help from Emerald Ghost are outnumbered two to one by liberals. Maybe you ought to think about moving!

Would you really prefer to have me banned brownshirt?

Any state that gave birth to Southern Rock can't be evil.  Dr. Spock would just say "it's illogical,  Jim".

Again...desperation about religion from our resident "Heathen" Wordslinger.

The guy just wants to keep his options open!

How ethnocentric can you get? Of course just as "with liberty and justice for all" was heard by white men as "all" meaning white men, those who are asking for prayer in school must consider adding guidelines for the size of prayer rugs, should they not?

I went to elementary school in Oregon and Arizona and never had prayer in school. Only those from the South assume apparently that just because they had prayer in school that the whole country did too.

We said the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord's Prayer each morning...in Chicago. We did the same when my family moved to Miami.

Because it's insanely dangerous. Georgia's new law is an example.

I think Alabama is worse than Georgia but they're pretty close.

He doesn't. It's people who believe in the great tooth fairy or some other rank, steaming bullshit, and who want to force everyone to believe the same way, whom I hate.

Fess up Mobrule, don't you feel the same?

Typical. My Socialist/Communist good friend Wordslinger first denies that he hates people who believe differently than he does.

Then he goes on to list the people, who he says believe differently than himself who he hates. Which, as we have seen, pretty much includes everyone.

Those who answer any complaint about their locale by saying, in essence, "If you don't like it, move somewhere else," or, more commonly in this area, "Go back where you came from," are simply using an age-old defensive method of avoiding open and honest discussion on serious sentiments and concerns.   Very obviously it's an empty exhortation and gets no one anywhere.

Knot, are you referring to Georgia's crap, or the crap on this thread?  In either case I concur -- even if my crap is part of the irritation.  LOL

No not your comments but the entire political spectrum has become so toxic and vitriolic . . . I am as guilty as others in mudslinging but it does wear on me . . . . . I am not giving up on America!

I think a defining moment in anyone's life is to move away from the "known" to the unknown and learn. So many people live in the same place their entire life and never move forward intellectually, never have the ability to see a bigger picture, or to understand diversity. The same can happen even with someone who moves about but I have seen those who remain in one place give the "go back where you came from" response out of sheer exasperation over not knowing how to address change. They build walls and want walls built around the country.

In these conversations, I always think of the book used in many settings - "Who Moved My Cheese."

Free the mind!

What, pray tell, can be more evil than a State being allowed to enact a law forcing prayer on all the students attending a school? Does anyone here wonder what religious views will be promulgated in a Georgia school?

And Semi-sane Markle, that upright paragon of Christian goodness, says I'm evil for hating people who feel compelled to force their religious views upon children.

Yes, I admit I hate religions -- all religions -- and especially those who feel compelled to force their beliefs and way of thinking on everyone else.

But I don't advocate burning churches or closing them or prohibiting anyone from praying to the Great Turtle, or their ashtray, or Jesus.

And if you understand the history of this nation, you have to recognize that freedom of religion (including not following one) was certainly among the founding issues.

Is this country coming apart? At the same time as a man like Cruz is doing fairly well as a presidential candidate, we get Georgia enacting a law that forces prayer on students -- i.e. -- we get institutionalized religion promoted by the state.

And you guys think I'm evil for pointing it out?

What goes around comes around. It's beginning to appear that America is getting exactly what it deserves.

amen.
