The research, conducted by the charity Oxfam, found that the wealth of the poorest half of the world’s population – 3.6 million people – has fallen by 41 per cent, or a trillion US dollars, since 2010.

While this group has become poorer, the wealth of the richest 62 people on the planet has increased by more than half a trillion dollars to $1.76 trillion.

Bogus.

Your source states, and I quote: "the poorest half of the worlds population - 3.6 million people".

Are you aware that the population of New York City is more than double that figure, much less the whole world.

What are the combined populations of China, India, Africa and South America?

Doesn't take much to show the rest of the advanced world has far greater incomes.

Folks in glass houses should read the links before throwing rocks at somebody for a typo. It is not bogus. You consistently believe that few folks having all the world's wealth is a good thing.......something is bogus, and your views consistently are......

A US family making 33k a year is in the worlds 1%. So driving our economy off the cliff is really just social justice.

Eh comrades?

Just like we don't read Markle's links--except to poke fun at him--He never reads ours, either.

Then you wonder why the masses simply do not rise up against those same 62 people? It is because those folks control governments who have access to nuclear weapons.

Those people have the power to incite wars and decide who wins. The Rothschilds became masters at this around the time of the Battle of Waterloo in the early 1800s.

I agree with merkel.  Those 3.6 million are the lazy good for nothing bums who want communism to make them all rich.
The 62 with the money are like Bill O'Reilly, the only ones who work hard.

The link I quoted, as did TEO, state 3.5 MILLION, not billion.

As Hillary Clinton Clinton said, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE. You're talking the people who make up the nations of China, India, Africa, South America and various other incredibly poor nations.

ZVUGKTUBM, PLEASE share with us all specifically how those 63 people's wealth took cash out of your pocket.

You are aware that the "pie", our economy, is not limited in size but ever expands. That is something Progressives are not able to grasp. They are steadfastly convinced that if I raise my income from $100,000.00 this year to $150,000.00 the following year, I have taken that $50,000.00 from other people. They cannot grasp the concept that does not happen.

Bernie Sander's entire philosophy is built around the mistaken belief that the "pie" is one size and one size period. In other words, in the scenario above is impossible. Had my income remained at $100,000.00 People in China would be richer. Does that really make sense? To anyone?

It's still left hanging whether it's million or billion.
Millionaire was a big deal when it was the name of a tv show.  But now there are millions of millionaires.
But now if we're talking about three and a half billion,  that's most of the whole world population.

This is starting to sound like in Medieval times.  Like when the 63 higher ups in the British Royalty,  were worth as much as the rest of the peons all put together.

Bingo, and some folks on this forum want a return to feudal times.

It's the nature of capitalism.  I've seen it in the capitalism I was in and Markle's seen it in his too if he would admit it but he won't.

In my racket,  a handful of big players quickly developed.  And they were on a mission from hell to own everything in existence however they could get it.  It was almost like they had some kind of inate genetic need to conquer everything around them.

What I put in that "Empire State Building" thread describes it well...

____________________________________

The idea to become the tallest building in the world came out of Walter P. Chrysler's hubris.  It was, in his mind, a huge monument to himself.  The project was financed out of his own pocket, ensuring that his sons would get ownership.  He was to have an office suite and apartment with a exquisite dining room at the top and asked his builders to make sure his toilet was the highest in Manhattan, so that he could look down and as an observer put it, "shit on Henry Ford and the rest of the world."

But,  that's just half of the story.
And the story is that quote:  "The Best and the Worst Thing About Capitalism is Greed".

If you toss it out and replace it with socialism,  would Steve Jobs have done what he did without the huge capitalism rewards as his goal?
Fuck no.  He was telling wozniak how rich he was gonna be before they ever built that first computer in the garage.  Without the money at the end of the rainbow,  it woulda been Wozniak giving away a few computers and then going on to his day job.

So when you turn against capitalism you throw all those babies out with the bathwater.

That would be Bernie Sanders.

You've lost me,  markle.  How are the 62 wealthiest people represented by Bernie Sanders?  It's my understanding that Bernie Sanders wants to take away the money from the 62 people and give it to the masses.  Have I missed something in that?

Indeed, back when the ultra, ultra rich owned everything, and ran their domains as kingdoms renting houses and business places to the commoners.

Just as Bernie Sander's envisions America.

Oh, how many of those alleged 62 are Americans?

EXACTLY HOW MUCH has any of those 62 billionaires taken out of your pocket?

You're helping prove again that Progressives are so uninformed as to be totally senseless.

Here you said, and I quote "we're talking about three and a half billion,  that's most of the whole world population."

For your edification, and so, so easy to learn is that the world population is over 7.3 BILLION.

Whew, little wonder none of you can deal with realistic figures. You have no clue as to what they are. You swallow anything you are fed.

Markle,  it's Donald Trump who is the ultra ultra rich who owns everything and runs his domains like a kingdom renting houses and business places to commoners.
Not Bernie Sanders.  lol

Okay,  markle, so it's almost half the world population.  Not two-thirds.
That's like arguing over how many billions it is exactly that Trump has.  lol

And the other question:  "how many of the 62 have taken money out of my pocket?"

I'll have to study on that one.  I've got a vague idea how to answer that but I need time to flesh it out.  lol

Hospital Bob

I think you've got me on that one,  markle.  I can't think of how Buffet or Gates or Carlos Slim have taken money out of my pocket.
I outsmarted Gates by never buying anything from him.  I outsmarted Buffet by not taking his investment advice (although the wisdom of that is debatable).
And I don't think I've given Carlos Slim any money.

So I'll have to say the 62 have stayed out of my pocket.

Hospital Bob

Wait a minute.  Those two hindus or indians or whatever they are who dreamed up Google are in my pocket.  I've spent more money on Android shit in the last few months than on any other personal purchases.
They're definitely in my pocket.

Hospital Bob

But we should point out that the two at the top of the 62 list are giving away their money to help people.  And one of the two has made it his job to spend the money wisely.

Score one for capitalism.

Trouble is, Donald Trump wants others to be wealthy and succeed like himself.

Your Bromance with Bernie Sanders blinds you to the fact that he wants to be among the rich ruling class and decide the winners and the losers. Bernie and you intend to take the wealth from the Donald Trumps of the world and give it to others in the form free college, free food, free housing, free transportation for so long as they wish.

How much new technology, drugs, procedures and upstart businesses do you think will be developed under those restrictions?

I'm voting for Trump,  Markle.  Not Sanders.

Yes I make fun of Trump.  And I'll continue to make fun of him.  Because I don't want people to worship him.
But that doesn't mean I won't vote for him.
