Kim Jong Un claims he tested an H-bomb this time....

http://news.yahoo.com/n-korea-says-conducted-successful-hydrogen-bomb-test-033750240.html

I am sure the most ardent of wingnuts still think that Iran is a much bigger threat than the already nuclear-armed North Korea.....

I'm not sure one is necessarily worse than the other... but there are certainly some similarities in that clinton assured the world that his diplomatic solution with north korea was going to prevent their becoming a nuclear armed nation.

Here you can hear the announcement from the North Koreans themselves:

I am sure if poster Obamasucks were still here, he would surely be advocating bombing Iran back to the stone age and just ignoring the North Korean H-bomb threat. He likely would blame Obama for allowing the North Koreans to develop an H-bomb, even though the NKs conducted their first atomic tests while George W. Bush was president (why didn't Bush take care of the problem--oh, he was stuck in a quagmire in Iraq and that was where his foreign policy was focused).

Seems to be some serious doubts regarding whether this was really a hydrogen bomb.

If it was, it was very small by hydrogen bomb explosion standards.

Actually, short of going to war, the shrub did what he could along with the UN Security Council - impose sanctions.

The NK program goes back to the early 90's with now 4 tests - one tiny one (not an H bomb) in 2006 and now 3 more starting in 2009 growing larger every time.

Like Bush, there's not much Obama could have or can do when dealing with a rogue nation-state. Like Iraq and Iran.

China is going to have to squash the NK's but won't because they don't want millions of starving refugees. When the Chinese start making big noises you'll know the NK's really have a viable weapon.

NP is a tough issue when the technology is over 75 years old. Almost half the nations in the world could have a nuclear bomb in five years, and many nations within the NP treaties are months away from going Nuclear, and I would suggest that Japan and their reaction to this news is critical. There is much residual anger after WWII from the Korea Peninsula and Japan will control the reaction to the very dangerous North Korea. This is a real threat. This is a critical American zone of interest with the South Korean and Japanese economies so closely tied to the American economy. There a qualitative limits to the control that China can exert over North Korea. This is a dangerous rouge nation which requires an international response which is consistent and firm.

This small "man" is jealous when the world's attention is not on him. Too much air time focused on the mideast so he had to set off a bomb? Much ado... If we keep and "axis of evil" in the forefront then $$$$ goes to keep the machine moving.

Someone needs to take the bull by the horns and stop all the nonsense.

A candidate out there to do it?

Nope.

Put in another quarter for the merry-go-round.

Stand by for the usual "semi-retired President Barrack Hussein Obama" thread or post from the usual poster.... of course, blaming the most recent NK nuclear test on Obama.... Shocked

Kim Jong Un is no different than a petulant child.

Kim Jong Un sees Iran behaving badly and being mightily rewarded for their efforts. Kim Jong Un is stomping his little feet and whining because no one is paying attention to him.

The only way to reign in North Korea is through China. Will China do anything? I have no clue. Just as I have no clue as to whether or not they successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb.
