I was gonna stay up and critique the response, but I ran out of scotch.

Good night.

Santorium supports the minimum wage....oh my goodness.....the Republican party is actually finally finding some moderation which seems to be driven by Trump and the outsiders which are rejecting the lock step Dixiecrat and Oligarch control of America.

I'm not impressed with anyone who would participate in or watch a 3 hour debate. We know what these folks think and we know the banter. We don't need debates with more than three candidates. Highly doubt I would watch even that. We know the speil.

That is all.

Carry on.

My reasoning here is that republicans can't seem to find candidates who can simply speak coherently about issues.  This makes sense when you consider the base of people who identify as republicans (look at this forum).

In the last election, as Romney was generally leading and seemed to be the presumed favorite, we would see various candidates briefly spike to challenge him and then fall off. The spike resulted from the fact that the currently leading candidate wasn't entirely palatable (Trump/Romney), and then the plummet occurred when the republican candidate was simply asked to speak.  It sounds so stupid, but that really is what happened.  Republicans could not seem to find a candidate who could simply speak intelligently.  Using words to form complete sentences was a bar far higher than anyone in the field - but Romney - could pull off.

So here we are again.  We have a candidate seemingly in control but that isn't entirely palatable to the base.  We have spiking candidate who hasn't yet had his moment in the spotlight, and we have a debate scheduled for tonight.   If the past is any guide for the future, Ben Carson will speak tonight and then his poll numbers will plummet.  Shortly thereafter, another candidate will spike.  Then there will be another debate.  Then that candidate will speak.  Poll numbers will plummet.  Etc. Etc.

Well I got this one wrong. Carson didn't win the nomination last night but he certainly didn't lose it either.

Also, Ted Cruz is a douchebag.

We need to start calling Senor Cruz by his real name...

And the most dangerous person in any room is the person who doesn't know what he doesn't know... we cannot afford another eight years of someone in the office who doesn't know what he doesn't know."

Mike Huckabee actually made these words with his mouth hole.

I understand.

If what we saw last night was representative of the party I supported and the ideology I espoused, I would advise people to look away too.

That sounds a lot like Rumsfeld's "known unknowns".

I think Trump will survive and remain steady but will come out as not as informed as he should be on critical issues but , if true, it will be a chink in his armor.  He would be wise to ease off dissing Carly F. excessively lest he will prove he is a bully but Carly could move the needle tonight in her favor as she is prepared to take him on, we'll see.  Jeb goes nowhere, John Kasich could move up, Christie a big maybe on movement.  It's gonna be entertaining!

You mean 9/12/2001....

How many times has poster Markle tried to convince us that the 9/11 attacks were Bill Clinton's fault? Republicans can't see past the warts on their noses.....

I will openly admit that I find Rafael Cruz the most wacked out candidate we have ever seen, and the most dangerous to our way of life. He is a combination of George Wallace and Genghis Khan. On one hand he “loves the constitution” and wants to “defend every single word in it” yet wants to eliminate the 14 Amendment among other provisions. He wants to let people discriminate against others simply because they don’t like them or consider them “sinners.”

Then just to make sure his “warmonger” credentials are in tact, he claimed openly “I will kill terrorists.” So, I have a suggestion for Cruz and any other Republican on that stage who thinks “killing” is the answer to everything.

If you are listening Mr. Cruz here is what you should do. Since it is important for the American People to really believe that you are willing to “kill the terrorists” why wait? You can put together your own private army and go over to Iraq and Syria and “kill the terrorists.” And, it would even be considered legal.

Since you come from that outstanding State of Texas, you should be able to put together quite an army. You can recruit from the Aryan Nation, the KKK, and that wacky patriotic group called “Open Carry.” And, since you are such an avid and great hunter, they will surely follow you into action

Maybe you aren't aware that there is a socialist running for the democratic ticket. Yea... a socialist like lenin.

Lenin is an interesting story... one that would be good to know since that ideology is now mainstream democratic.

Marco Rubio is one of the most empty suits in that whole field..... He is also currently the most absentee member of the U.S. Senate, followed closely by Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham. Rubio has missed 60% of the votes since June and 29% of the votes in 2015.

Apparently Mr. Rubio's day job (the one we pay him to do) is no longer important to him.

Trump's not my idea of a business man with tact and ability. He got all his money from his daddy and has declared bankruptcy 4 times. Trump is an entertainer at best..... Rand is a disappointment.

I thought Rubio explained his absence last night by saying he was running for president and was making that his main effort. He's not well known and needs to raise money for his campaign....
