...The truth: The economic tragedy of the Millennial generation was written before many of us had even learned to read — Baby Boomer parents and grandparents who, at once, genuinely love and care for us, but have also created or perpetuated institutions, policies, and economic realities that have now hobbled us.

Our generation has been called “entitled.” We beg to differ. If any generation is entitled, it’s our parents’ and grandparents’ generation: the baby boomers.

True entitlement is tripling the national debt since the 1980s and using the proceeds to spend lavishly on tax cuts and government programs that primarily provided short-term economic boosts, while refusing to raise the Social Security age of retirement or to reduce benefits, even as the gluttonous program careens toward unsustainability....

Millennials have yet to hit their stride. Once they start assuming positions in government, Baby Boomers had better watch out. Millennials don't expect to receive much from Social Security, and will take it away from their parents and grandparents if given the chance.

It wasn't just Boomers who created where we are. Our parents were at their peak of political power in the 1980s, and helped it as well.

Atleast baby boomers worked for the most part... it's alarming how many youngsters don't.

I guess that'll take care of entitlements all by itself... so there is an upside eventually. But let's pretend it doesn't matter.

Things have changed.

For the baby boomers, if they graduated high school and kept their noses clean, they were pretty much assured a job that payed a living wage and provided good benefits and a dignified retirement if they wanted one.

The social contract that used to exist between business and labor is gone, because organized labor is not around to enforce it.
