We told them so! We told them not to remove all the troops from Iraq and to leave 20-30 thousand but would they listen? NOOOO...but they sure claimed victory. NOW the troops are moving back into Iraq. Notice how this wasn't announced until AFTER the massive landslide victory by Republicans?

Exclusive: U.S. may significantly hike number of troops in Iraq - sources
Reuters
13 minutes ago [Nov. 7, 2014]

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military has drawn up plans to significantly increase the number of American forces in Iraq beyond the current total of around 1,400, as part of the effort to bolster Iraqi forces battling the Islamic State, U.S. officials told Reuters on Friday.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to offer details about the plans, including the timing of any future deployments, should they be approved.

The disclosure came the same day that U.S. President Barack Obama met members of Congress at the White House, where he aimed to update them on the fight against Islamic State in Iraq and in Syria, among other issues.

The United States aims to train local forces in Iraq battling Islamic State after the militants swept into northern Iraq this summer.

Obama has launched air strikes against Islamic State targets and sent military advisers back into the country after the U.S. withdrawal in 2011 but he has ruled out sending American ground troops into combat.

Significantly hike troops in Iraq......1,400......geez.....could that be 1,800. Our involvement in Iraq is ending. I know it kills you, but a couple thousand troops in Iraq means very little when the policy is clear......see ya.

Wow didn't take the neocon MIC long to get back on the gravy train...

Up to 1,500 in non combat role increase.....by golly, almost three thousand. Sorry Mr. Markle, do not confuse a structural mid term election where Reagan, Clinton, Bush, and now Obama see the other party taking the senate in their last two years of their term.......with a mandate from the American people to feed MIC.....what planet does your head reside? Uranus.

Seaoat .... this will be Obama's legacy and the one he has chosen. Everything else attempted by him has failed and he knows this is his greatest shot. I think he may have waited too late for this application of force. Most of that being he has used up his credibility in the Muslim world. He realizes that the generals didnt lie to him... All the folks whom he fired for not being "yes men" did tell him the truth and now he wants to save face with the "yes
Men" he has left. Guys like McChrystal and Petraeus are getting the last laugh and are now intently praying that those leaders of today can fall back on what they learned prior to the Obama years.

I thought the war in Iraq was declared over in 2011 and we were outa' there.

Looks like the blood soaked Nobel Champion Of Peace isn't done attacking sovereign nations without the American people or Congress's approval yet...

Has he given back that prize he received when he took office?

3000 troops aren't going to control the land claimed by Isis.

Maybe the CIA will false flag the whole bunch of them to get us back in the middle east with both feet......

The war in Iraq was over in three weeks almost a decade ago. The occupation was an utter failure. We stopped the continuing failure and our occupation has come to an end. The political forces free of our occupation are vying for control. President Obama has been brilliant. He got us out. He has left utter chaos in the middle east nation states which threatened Israel, and he is talking to Iran. A chess player being analyzed by checker players. History will see the results. People forget how close the 1973 Middle east war came to a victory for Egypt and Syria. Egypt stunned Israel, and but for a failure of hesitation, Syrian tanks would have poured into Israel. That threat is gone. Egypt is in the throngs of democratic reform and a military with strong ties to America is in charge. Syria is in ashes and the government cannot even control its own territory, let alone Israel. Iraq is in complete discord and poses no threat to Israel as a nation state. Terrorism is one thing, but a 100 tanks rolling over the river jordan and destroying Israeli air bases would have been the end of the country as we know it. If ISIS were the bad aszes that the media has tried to create......how come Israel takes no action as they cause havoc in former nation states which threatened Israel? It would take less than three weeks to have Israeli tanks obliterate ISIS......but why would they destroy the enemy of their enemies? Play chess and begin to understand, but if you continue to play checkers.....well you might be accused of not understanding strategic values.

First, they are non combat, and second....who cares about getting land back.......to whom will it be given and why? Discord in the middle east with America conserving and producing the highest levels of oil and gas since the late 60s makes chaos work for America in oil markets and overall strategy for our allies.

If you are going to defeat ISIS you will have to do it with boots on the ground.

Every troop in Iraq right now is a combat troop. To think otherwise is a lie.

Is your brain completely gone? There's no pinning the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq on this President. It happened in 2003. McChrystal and Patraeus are neocon pigs.

No, it is the truth. Certainly, any service person serving anywhere in the world including America may have risks. The risks in Iraq are higher than other areas. Advisors were the clever words used in Viet Nam, but here they really are advising.....and yes it is dangerous.

My brain quite gets it.... Obama is crawfishing in the fact that his cut and run strategy failed so he will be all in on total war soon.
