Why are we, left or right, so stupid we vote to continue the crapola that isn't working for either of us?

Are you happy with today's America? Happy with the conflicts we helped to create in the Middle east? Happy for our burgeoning economy and job market? Happy with our banking industry? Happy with our infrastructure?
Happy with our tax system? Happy with our healthcare system? Our disastrous educational system? Then why in hell will you vote for MORE OF THE SAME?

If you're absolutely desperate to continue the crap that we're drowning in, vote for Clinton or Romney, or any congressional incumbents.

And that's exactly what you're going to do, and that's why this country is careening downhill to the pit of dysfunction.

From Stop Hillary, by Doug Henwood, Harper's, Nov. 14:

"What Reagan created, with his embrace of the nutty Laffer curve and his smiling war on organized labor, was a strange, unequally distributed boom that lasted through the early 1990s. After the caretaker George H.W. Bush administration evaporated, Bill Clinton took over and, with a few minor adjustments, kept the party going for another decade. Profits skyrocketed, as did the financial markets.
But there was a contradiction under it all: a system dependent on high levels of mass consumption for both economic dynamism and political legitimacy has a problem when mass purchasing power is squeezed. For a few decades, consumers borrowed to make up for what their paychecks were lacking. But that model broke down once and for all with the crisis of 2008. Today we desperately need a new political economy--one that features a more equal distribution of income, investment in ouir rotting social and physical infrastructure, and a more humane ethic. We also need a judicious foreign policy, and a commander-in-chief who will resist the instant gratification of air strikes and rhetorical bluster."

Obama was voted in the first time because we (most of us) wanted the dream he campaign-promised. What we got in foreign policy, and in economics was more of the same. Obama himself said he wanted to be seen like Reagan. So why are we surprised at the outcome? Under Obama, same as with Bush, the ties to Wall Street and the big banks were maintained, even strengthened. The MIC continues to rake in the cash and ignore the blood spill, the oil industry continues to fight with all its might any environmental laws that might curtail its insane, inane profits. Outside our continental shores, America is seen as a weak and evil bully who can be mocked and ignored without penalty. Having accepted that nothing they can do will change anything that controls their lives, our youth concentrate on I-phone and video games, drugs, early sex and any deviation that might bring a little, momentary happiness. Polls show 64% of Americans think our country is on the skids. And instead of attacking the folks who have caused all this tragedy, we liberals and conservatives, and believers and non-believers go at each other with bared teeth and sharp knives.

And we do this because we ARE STUPID. Thank you America Inc!!

You think either Clinton or Romney will bring any change? You think any incumbent senator or congress-person will break the mold that we've been using since Nixon?

Watch any campaign debate -- do you see the opponents discussing issues and solutions, or spend their time backstabbing each other?

Reagan said it correctly: Washington is the problem. THE WHOLE PROBLEM.

Face it, you didn't pick the candidates you're forced to evaluate and vote for or against.

You want America to win? Then make professional politicians lose!

Reality!

Because no one can honestly defend the pig-headed, my way or the highway, anti feminist, hate the poor, racist conservatives.

Both sides are inept and corrupt. But at least the leftists care something for making life better for everyone. The right can't say that.

I don't understand why you (and the author) are pushing this narrative at this time. It's midterms. Both sides of the coin are not the same. Is this supposed to make people just give up? Because we don't have a viable 3rd party...no one can even come close to challenging our entrenched 2-party system. I know...if both parties are the same, there's no reason to vote at all.

That makes you a hypocrite then according to what you posted.
