Lerner tries to bust into house to avoid questions on IRS scandal

Lois Lerner attempted to bust into a neighbor’s home uninvited, in a desperate attempt to avoid answering questions about her involvement in the targeting of conservative groups.

Jason Mattera, author of the explosive new book CRAPITALISM: Liberals Who Make Millions Swiping Your Tax Dollars, recently caught up with the disgraced former IRS official in her ritzy neighborhood outside Washington, D.C.
Mattera, who publishes the Daily Surge, asked Lerner if she had any regrets for her role in the ongoing IRS corruption case, and if she wanted to take the opportunity to give a genuine apology to conservatives for using the force of government to harass and single them out.
But, similar to her testimony before Congress where she pleaded the fifth, Lerner didn’t show any remorse, and, on a more latent level, showed her disregard to people’s privacy rights in general. In the video above, you can see Lerner fleeing from Mattera as she rushes through what appears to be a random person’s front yard.
“Could you call the police?” Lerner begs an elderly woman, while pounding on her door. “Please let me in. These guys are with the press and they’re not leaving me alone.” The elderly woman is heard telling Lerner that she just had surgery and was in no position physically to let her in the house.
But that didn’t stop Lerner. She implores that same elderly woman to open up her garage instead.
“It’s almost a perfect proxy for her actions in the targeting scandal,” Mattera said.
“She keeps badgering an innocent woman with zero regard for her wishes. It’s an incredible crystallization of Lerner’s character or lack thereof.”
The natural question the viewer asks, he notes, is, “If she’s willing to barge into a person’s home, how much more so is she willing to barge into a conservative’s IRS records to inflict her personal will?”
Eventually, the elderly woman’s husband sees Lerner’s antics and kicks her off his property. “Out. Out!” he demanded.

It's a sad state of affairs when public servants are not held accountable to the public trust.

Actually Lerner is just another incompetent bureaucrat who will do anything to keep a plush government job including screw over the citizenry. And her punishment for that is a $100,000/year pension from the taxpayers.

I believe Mrs. Lerner was just doing her job, and I believe she was set up by Issa and others from the beginning of this fake, politically motivated "scandal".

Do you just ignore the fact that she planted a question during a press conference and then answered it acknowledging that something improper had taken place? She did it to try to set the narrative ahead of an internal inspectors report.

How does one go about deciding when the govt is lying... when it goes on so often and with NO accountability?

I think you meant "prosecute", although Mrs. Lerner certainly has been "persecuted". Congressman Issa has been doing damage control, which has cost the taxpayers $14 million by conservative estimate. Specifically, he and Rove didn't want an IRS probe into American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS. This "scandal", conducted by a Congressman with a sketchy past, will evaporate after November...watch.

Celia Roady, a prominent tax lawyer in the firm of Morgan Lewis, said she was called personally by Lois Lerner, the IRS head of the tax exempt division, on May 9.

"I received a call from Lois Lerner, who told me that she wanted to address an issue after her prepared remarks at the [American Bar Association] Tax Section's Exempt Organizations Committee Meeting, and asked if I would pose a question to her after her remarks," Roady said in a statement to U.S. News and World Report. "I agreed to do so, and she then gave me the question that I asked at the meeting the next day. We had no discussion thereafter on the topic of the question, nor had we spoken about any of this before I received her call. She did not tell me, and I did not know, how she would answer the question."

Acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller admitted to House lawmakers Friday during an oversight hearing of the controversy that the question was a plant. The IRS was aware of a forthcoming Treasury Department Inspector General Report that would condemn the targeting of groups applying for 501(c)(4) status if they contained the words "tea party," "patriot" or "9/12."

I wonder ... several alleged "non political organizations" made up of right wing political activists lie to the IRS that their outfits are non-political so they can avoid taxation. Then we learn that the IRS has been targeting the same groups.
