How could Obama have 'underestimated' ISIS?

Washington (CNN) -- ISIS, a top intelligence official said more than a year ago, has "ruthlessly grown in effectiveness."
In October a senior administration official said the terror group represented "a major and increasing threat" -- to the region and the United States.
Eight months ago, the military's top intelligence official warned ISIS "will attempt to take territory."

Those were the public assessments of ISIS coming from President Barack Obama's own administration dating back more than a year. So why is the president saying now his intelligence agencies misjudged the terror group, currently being pummeled by U.S. and coalition airstrikes?

Good... it's really the entire regions issue. Not so much ours. Y'all may be convincing yourselves that obama is bombing so many countries with wonderful intents... but I'm actually surprised. I believed that he would change that pattern...

I think the President explained last night that part of the underestimation of ISIS's ability to gain territory was due to an overestimation of the Iraqi army's willingness to fight them.

I understand that Turkey has agreed to join the fight, including sending ground troops in to engage them.

If true, ISIS is in for a serious ass kicking.

Turkey would be better off giving us permission to use their nation and OUR airbases for strikes. When was the last time the Turks kicked any ass?

And also explain ISIS power in Syria ? Assad's forces have more combat experience than most in that region and they are getting it handed to them by ISIS.

Has there been any incident which has come up during the administration of semi-retired President Barack Hussein Obama which was NOT a SURPRISE?

Some time ago stories were circulating that President Obama did not attend most of his own security briefings. He would only read them and therefore sends no questions back down the line for answers.

President Obama is incompetent. He believes that the United States is the problem in the world. He staunchly sticks to his ideology, as it fails miserably.

His incompetency is shown every day as he leads from behind. He puts his finger in the air more than Slick Willie to see what he should do based on the political winds. Carter is somewhere laughing his arse off....and thanking GOD that Obama took his place as worst ever.
