September 4th in Columbia, SC. Watch the video included with the article. The trooper, Sean Groubert, pulls over a black motorist, Levar Jones (a little racial profiling going on?) for an alleged "seat belt violation." Jones gets out of his vehicle and the cop demands to see his driver's license. The motorist then reaches back into his vehicle to get his wallet, and the trooper draws his gun and opens fire, firing at least 6 shots, and striking the unarmed Jones once in the hip.
The cop was later fired over "using excessive force" and not following protocols, and later was arrested for aggravated battery.
I hope Jones has retained a good lawyer and that he sues the state troopers for $$ millions.
