I found this article to be very interesting. Is it possible that we don't understand what Islam is really about, and are too quick to jump to stereotypes we hold about Islam and Muslims in general?

The article focuses on a family made up of a Christian woman and her Muslim husband. She is American and he is from Pakistan. The live in Boise, Idaho, and have been married for 27 years.  She is a school teacher and he is a businessman.

They have somehow made it work, accommodating and tolerating both faiths.

That's because Mohammed is the only prophet of Allah, the creator of the universe.
It may be Obama who gives Chris Matthews a tingle up his leg. But it's Mohammed and Allah who give me a full erection.

Uh maybe because they don't live in the Middle East.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. They have daughters--no honor killings; likely no female mutilation.

The media and the Jewish lobby works hard to convinced Americans that Muslims are the most wretched human beings on the face of the Earth. I bet it is way different than the stereotypes we are forced to choke-down all the time.

Bs... the extremists do a fine job of that for themselves. Would you prefer we ignore barbaric acts?

Find me more regarding humane actions of Muslims and I will find you 100 to 1 the inhumane things they do.

Yesterday while I was at an estate sale, I noticed a petite woman who was wearing a hijab headress. She was very shy with a very nice smile.
I spoke with her briefly after she confused me with the individual who was running the sale.
It was one of those pretty cool human encounters. I hope she is able to pursue the happiness mentioned in our Declaration of Independence.

There was even a Muslim pilot in one of the squadrons I served in (1979 time frame). He was born and raised in Lebanon, but had become a naturalized U.S. citizen, and was a 1stLt in the USMC. We were on Okinawa at the time. He found a mosque there and attended services each weekend. He was very polite, and was a good pilot, too.

Those were far different times Z. That was before Muzzies began to talk of a new caliphate and dominating the world. I never see moderate Muslims calling out their Neanderthal brothers for their radical beliefs and actions.

No, those were terrible pilots... One of the premises of the 911 truth movement is that those guys lacked the skills to fly those airliners into the buildings. Especially the one that flew into the Pentagon--it apparently did some maneuvering that one experienced airline pilot said he would not be able to replicate.

I am NOT trying to turn this into a 911 thread--just trying to answer your comment.

If Hani Honjour wasn't flying Anerican Airlines Flight 77,  then what is your alternative explanation?

I challenge you to read this discussion and then give me your reaction to it...

I said I wasn't turning this thread into a 9/11 discussion, so I will decline reading your source.

My SIL is Muslim. She now lives in Texas and hosts a prayer group. My cousin's husband is Lebanese...don't know if he practices Islam or not, but I do know that he and my cousin are happy in their relationship. No doubt there are radical Islamists, but they didn't attack our country on 9/11, nor are most Muslims aggressive or violent. We were sold a bill of goods...a narrative that fit a political agenda. I'm sorry for the people who can't see that.
