His priorities are the priorities of the American people. I traveled the interstate system this past week and people are working and improving our infrastructure across the nation......in order to be a world superpower, we need that infrastructure and an economy which can support our military. The cuts are not enough if they are strictly only making cuts in personnel......we need to shut down ships and air bases.....all around the world.

It is called a "drawdown," which has happened after every war in the last 100 years. Get with the program.

Those majors obviously didn't have good enough fitness reports to be ahead of their peers, so they got a pink-slip. Events like that happen every day in the private world. A CEO suddenly decides to eliminate 5,000 jobs to raise his company's share price, and whamo--you are out the door.

We're doing terrible in Afghanistan, semi-retired President Barack Hussein Obama has already announced our surrender date.

President Obama was also able to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq.  Now being over run by ISIS including Syria.

The Ukraine is afire and being taken over by Russia, China is building submarines as fast as they possibly can.

The border is open and we are being flooded by more illegal aliens soaking up Billions in our printed money.

Those Majors aren't Americans?

They are Americans, and like the Americans who used to make buggy whips, they are not necessary in a America with a reduced military presence in the world. However, a nation which pours its resources down a rabbit hole of the military industrial complex will have their wealth stolen and their standard of living dropped.............

The draw down is over, but you keep justifying giving American tax dollars to ILLEGALS invading our nation....goes to show, along with Obama, your priorities suck as well. If anything, we're going to have to come back and use this military somewhere after Obama is gone from office and he is gutting it to the point that it will take what's left of the remainder of his term of office to repair and restore it. It is idiotic to think we are even close to a reduction which will negatively impact the defense of America. It will however deter the incessant need by the military industrial complex to create foreign wars to fuel their profits. The founding fathers did not want a standing army, and we will slowly wean ourselves from the wasteful and totally draining policies which destroy our economy. It will be the strength of our economy which determines the strength of our military. The reductions have only begun.

Horse shit they didn't want a standing army and HISTORY has proven that after every "drawdown" as you call it, Americans have paid dearly in the blood of their sons and MORE spending to recoup a military that had to protect the country. The world was a different place in the days of our Founding Fathers. Oceans did provide a modicum of protection. Missiles didn't exist that can obliterate our society as we know it. Biological and chemical warfare were in their rawest forms (Ghenghis Khan first practiced bio warfare with rotten bodies hurled by catapults into cities he seiged).

If we don't have the money for the military, which is the point of the thread, we don't have it to pay for the hoard of illegals running through the southern border. These people are decades from contributing to this society, if at a.ll, and we are booting people from the military with ACTUAL SKILLS that speak the English language proficiently. For the money that Obama wants to spend on TRASH from other nations who will not give, but TAKE for years, we could keep these military members WORKING who DO PAY TAXES and CONTRIBUTE to society.

There won't be an economy to protect if their is not a competent military to stand for the country.

The required drastic cuts in military expenditures has little or nothing to do with Illegal immigration. You might as well tie it to aid to Israel, or funding FEMA........the military and the scope of its purpose and the response paradigm has changed. We no longer need to waste trillions on defense capital expenditures which in an economy is like flushing dollars down a toilet while Japan, Germany, and China use those capital assets to expand their economies and grow their gdp..........sorry you are angry, but the military is going to be much smaller......much....much.....much smaller, and it has nothing to do with other issues......the cuts stand on their own merit.

Eisenhower was 100% correct. We bought into the fearmongering that gave us the Cold War and Vietnam. I don't regret serving, but the main reason I joined was to protect America from the Soviet menace. That threat was probably overplayed by 50%. They were nowhere near as powerful as we were told. Today, the threat from the world's Muslims is probably overplayed by about 75%. They will always be a disorganized rabble, and when OPEC runs out of oil, so will their financing.

There is a special on HBO which documents the trumped up charges against some NY low lives that the FBI converted into terrorists and got all kinds of press using a questionable informer......keep us in fear, justify keeping the military industrial complex fat with profits and America continuing to loose its economic engine. This is simple. Cut military spending drastically. We do not need to give up our dominance.....just do not need five to one military superiority.

WE don't have just five enemies in this world clueless wonder. Remember sequestration? Just so no social problems would happen, it ALL came out of the military budget. Enough is enough.

You would never pass a freshman year geopolitical quiz.......we really do not have enemies in a conventional military context. We do have adverse interests with some nation states, and certainly some terrorists who are not aligned with a nation state may be our enemies, but a conventional military response has been proven totally ineffective. We need to reduce by almost fifty percent and invest in smaller more effective footprints. Personnel are non productive and draining on our gdp. As our GDP does not keep up with other nations, we lose military strength as our economy declines. Economy first, and military way down the line.

We would have fewer enemies if we held to a less aggressive foreign policy and adjusted our alignments in foreign relations. If we could develop a more evenhanded Middle Eastern policy, the Muslim rabble would be a lot quieter. There are numerous ways to make this world a better place without holding it at gunpoint.
