About 12 years ago myself and another agent had a discussion about mad cow and I said it would be in the U.S. and he said never, well it is here. So who thinks Ebola will make it here?

One of the article's I did not post says most outbreaks have been contained fairly quick but this one has gone on since February. I have to believe someone that is contagious will get on a plane and land here in the U.S.

It scares me too, every year in August we see an influx of foreign kids and some from that part of the world come in for insurance for a local college. I have also sat (in the past) with some peace corp kids coming back.

It is not a mistake. Without the courage of these doctors to fight on the front lines of this disease it could become a pandemic which would easily skip over the ocean. These doctors are heroes. We do not abandon heroes.

I agree these doctors who have served in Africa are courageous. I think bringing them back to the US for treatment is the best thing and the right thing to do. Emory is a leading research hospital and I pray for the cure/vaccine to be found through their care and possible treatment/cure of this doctor and the missionary from NC.

We may fuss about our healthcare system but it is still the best and I feel with they will go to all lengths to save these two and in doing so find a cure.

Polly Anna? Maybe. But I think they deserve to be here and obtaining the best health care available.

Great things may come for this.

If there were an absolute cure I would agree. Atlanta is a huge city and there is huge risk at bringing an airborne pathogen into a metropolis such as that.

This story is a couple years old and only experimented on animals, but it could be airborne:

They are arriving via private plane outfitted with an isolation pod...being taken to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. So far only 2, and the first one didn't make it. Fatality is close to 50%.

Ok FT maybe 60/40, guess it depends on what article you read. This may be a new case in N.Y. but he just returned from Africa:

Until there is a cure, it's better to err on the side of caution.

Good God I agree with you.

After Tuesday's Ebola update news conference in New York, confusion reigned on the "six" patients reportedly being treated for possible Ebola infections in the Big Apple. Breitbart News has learned that the confusion stems from there not being six potential Ebola cases in New York-- it seems that the CDC was talking about six patients nationwide, meaning the scare has spread across the country.
In a report on Tuesday, CNN's Sanjay Gupta cited the CDC saying that there were six patients being watched for the deadly virus. From there news agencies across the country reported that there were six just in New York. Gupta did not specify New York, though, and it seems that his words were misconstrued by subsequent reports.
A few hours after the conference, New York's Mr. Sinai corrected the record in a press release, saying that contrary to recent reports, "there is only one patient currently at Mount Sinai being tested for the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)."
Sources in the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene confirmed that there was only one patient in New York City who was isolated for fear of the virus.

As to the five other patients, ABC News reported on Tuesday that "The CDC said has tested blood samples from six people with possible Ebola symptoms who had recently traveled to West Africa." The report did not specify where all six patients were, but did not suggest they were all in New York. In fact, the same ABC report mentions a case in Ohio, where a woman tested negative for the virus.
Additionally, the CDC reported that one patient at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland was tested for Ebola. While testing negative for Ebola, the woman was found to have contracted malaria.
This leaves three patients across the country that have been tested for Ebola, with the CDC not stating whether they tested positively or negatively, or where they are.
Breitbart News has reached out to the CDC to request more information on these three cases-- particularly location and viral status. No reply has been received at press time.

It would appear that there is an abundance of caution being exercised here.

It sounds like people returning from West Africa are being tested routinely.

The good news is that we have the resources and facilities to isolate and treat infectious diseases that are lacking in Africa.

Also, the experimental vaccine that was given to the two Americans reportedly has been very effective.

Keep calm and carry on.
