"Basa" and "Swai" are sold at supermarkets in Pensacola--it is all Vietnamese catfish.

If you go to a restaurant like the Shrimp Basket, and order their "Fried Fish" dinner, if you ask them what kind of fish they are serving, they will tell you it is "Basa."

When I eat out and order catfish now, I specifically ask them if it is American farm-raised catfish and not Vietnamese Basa. I will not eat Basa.

Why is the FDA allowing them to sell these Basa-turds?

Apparently, it is really popular in California, where itr is cheaply imported.

But, if you eat any fish but those local to your area, you are taking your chances. Wild-caught salmon are caught off the U.S., frozen whole, then shipped to China, where they are partially thawed and cleaned/portioned, then re-packaged and re-frozen for sale in markets in the U.S.
