Guess we aren't even allowed freedom of the seas or to guarantee it for those who need safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz where 1/6 of the fossil fuels for energy flow through each day? No, we don't need it, but our economic trading partners sure do and that's why we have to be in place.

Yes, we are played the fool, aren't we? Our economic partners rely on the U.S. military to defend their interests, while the U.S. taxpayer is left with the bill.

For the next 30-40 years, the Persian Gulf is going to be less relevant to U.S. interests, but very important to Chinese interests as they have become the world's largest oil importer. They are an economic trading partner--we don't need to defend their interests, now do we?

You can thank the development of the Bakken Shale, the Texas Permian Basin and Eagleford Shales, and other shale projects right here in the good old USA for the change in events. OPEC is worried that North American oil production is going to take away some of the profits they have been stealing from the world for decades. Too F--ing bad!

I give kudos to President Obama for not starting another useless war with Iran, and for pushing back hard against that hothead Israeli PM, B. Nutinyahoo, who wants to light that region on fire. May he continue the current smart course and keep the idiots from influencing his policies.

Please explain how the collapse of the economy in Europe, Japan and other critical trading partners of ours would HELP our country.

Russia, as you know, has shown they are already capable, and willing, to cut off energy to Europe causing shortages in the middle of winter.

If China continues their massive military buildup and takes over more control of the seas and sea routes, directing more oil and coal to their country, how does THAT help our country?

Iran is using their ships off our coasts as terrific propaganda for the people of their country and the Mideast.  Further inflaming the Mideast and putting that region in the hands of Radical Muslim Terrorists.  People whose goal in life is to kill each of us who refuse to convert to being Muslims.

How is what you advocate different from you building a bunker for yourself, everyone else does the same and the streets, highways shopping centers, banks, hospitals are all on their own to defend themselves.  If you need fuel or groceries, you get in your armored car and fight your way to those facilities and hope someone hasn't stolen everything before you.

Come on, tell us how that is working out for the world.

Why do you have such a negative, destructive vision of what should happen to America? Why do you want your children, and your grandchildren to grow up in a country with far fewer opportunities than were available to you?

Yes, Iran is a terrible threat to U.S. interests... How dare they send an old obsolete frigate that was built in the 1970s to sail close to our shore. They have such gall......   Razz

You're saying that we have no interest in the Middle East and the rest of the worlds energy situation which is pure foolishness.

You're also desperately trying to ignore the FACT that our inattention to the Middle East has created a huge training ground for worldwide terrorists.

Keep up the great work! You're becoming a better and better foil!

Well, when Iran sets off an EMP device, of which they are capable of making and delivering, don't tell me I didn't warn you.

Funny thing though, wars and most of the war deaths in the last century were occurring when DEMOCRATS were POTUS. Nuf said loser.

Sure, graduate work at UWF in Political Science, 26 years in the military, 1N0 career field in AF as honor graduate at Goodfellow AFB class 121125A, and seven deployments to the Middle East.

I don't think Iran's Shahab 3 missile has the range to reach the United States. Besides, it is based on North Korean missile technology, and we have already seen how good that is, based on NK's launch failures.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahab-3

Iran would be quite content to quiet-down and just sell oil to the West, were it not for the threatening bellicosity of the current Israeli PM, and loud-mouthed U.S. wingnut politicians, who like to kiss-up to the Israelis.

In fact your only concern is fighting Israel's fights, because you put that nation ahead of the welfare of your own country (or, I should say, religious dogma makes you do this).

Gee, you are qualified to run for Congress, PD. You'd be able to influence far more people there than on this silly-assed forum.

You need to verify that last statement. Who was POTUS when you deployed?

As you know, the Middle East is exploding because our enemies no longer fear us and our friends do not TRUST us.  What a plan!
